Love Guru Banned in India

Hindu groups are requesting that India’s Central Board of Film Certification and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting ban Mike Myers film “The Love Guru” cuz it mocks Hinduism. Paramount Films of India may need to edit the film for it to see the light of day in India. New Age guru and author Deepak Chopra makes a cameo in the film.

After watching the trailer for The Love Guru, we get flashbacks of yellow face of Fu Manchu and Charlie Chan. Mike Myers needs to watch Hollywood Chinese. Asian Americans are making great strides in American entertainment and this film comes a long. How can this yellow face still be happening?

9th Annual National CAPACD Convention

National Coalition for Asian Pacific American Community Development‘s (CAPACD’s) 9th Annual Convention brings together hundreds of community based practitioners, organizers and advocacy agencies in one of the largest gatherings nationwide. By bringing together actively engaged, ethnically and geographically diverse leaders in the community development field, the Convention is an opportunity to create and share a common vision and agenda, and take collective action to strengthen the APA community development movement.

This year’s theme is “Vision, Voices, Votes: Standing Together for Justice & Equity,” which emphasizes what is needed from our communities in this critical year — and the opportunities we have to lead the way as we address the foreclosure crisis facing the nation, promote long-term equitable development policies and influence a crucial residential election.
