Big Brother 10

The tenth season of Big Brother started over the weekend. The host is once again Julie Chen for the 10th season. (She is also the co-host for The Early Show on CBS and wife of Leslie Moonves, president and CEO of CBS Television.) We spotted one Asian American Big Brother 10 houseguest, Korean American Angie Swindell. Here’s her bio:

Angie is a smart and sexy, Korean-American tomboy who can mix it up with the best of them. She is a recent divorcee who is happy to be single again.

Angie graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor’s Degree in Advertising and is currently working in pharmaceutical sales. She has a good relationship with her parents who have been married for almost 30 years though she thinks her dad understands her better than her mother. She is a devoted sister to her mentally disabled brother. Angie is very protective of him and stands up against anyone who makes fun of her brother.

She describes herself as wild, entertaining and funny and loves to hang out with friends. Her favorite activities are working out, socializing, boating and traveling – basically anything that’s fun to do. She is proud that she was the Guinness-chugging champion for women at Irish Kevin’s bar in Key West. She enjoys watching college football and is a dyed in the wool Gators fan. She’s also crazy about her miniature Dachshund whose name is Dixie.

Angie’s ideal romantic partner is an alpha male, confident and muscular. She prefers dark hair, likes tattoos and has a few herself. She really wants to be with a guy’s guy. That said, she’s a romantic at heart and her favorite movie is “The Notebook.”

Benihana Founder Rocky Aoki passes away

Rocky Aoki, beloved husband, father, friend, well-known entrepreneur and founder of Benihana restaurants, passed away on Thursday, July 10. He was surrounded by his wife Keiko and his six children. The cause was complications from cancer. The family celebrated Mr. Aoki’s life in a private ceremony.

Rocky Aoki opened the first Benihana restaurant in 1964 in Manhattan. Although the company has grown to encompass three brands (Benihana, Haru, and RA Sushi) with nearly 90 restaurants worldwide, Rocky’s legacy is much greater than the company. He was also a well-known sportsman, philanthropist, environmentalist and author.

Friends and members of the public who wish to pay their respects to Rocky Aoki are invited to a public visitation in Manhattan, New York on Wednesday, July 16. Visitors will be welcomed between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. at Frank E. Campbell The Funeral Chapel, 1076 Madison Avenue at 81st Street, New York, NY.
