With Harold and Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay out tomorrow, news is that director/writers Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg will comeback for a third film in the franchise. Both John Cho and Kal Penn are expected to return since Mandate Pictures has options on both for the third installment. (FYI - Mandate also produced "Juno".) The Harold and Kumar franchise has been gaining momentum. The first film earned $18 million domestically in 2004 and generated more than $30 million on DVD. Harold and Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay, which cost $12 million, earned $14.9 million its opening weekend before topping out at $38 million. DVD sales for the sequel are expected to be higher than the first.
