Anthony Kim helps bring Ryder Cup back to the US

Korean American Anthony Kim already won the Wachovia Championship and AT&T National Championship earlier this year. He was one of four rookie golfers to play as part of the USA Ryder Cup Team this weekend. With Anthony Kim’s help, the US won the Ryder Cup for the first time since 1999.

On Sunday, he faced off against Spaniard golfer Sergio Garcia representing Europe. Kim hit enough great shots to fuel a highlight reel and dealt Sergio Garcia his worst loss ever in a Ryder Cup. Kim was up 5 by the 14th hole and ended up contributing 2½ points to the US Team. He even had time to hang out with Micheal Jordan afterwards.

Here’s some quotes from Anthony Kim after the match.

You can’t underestimate Sergio. Obviously, he has a great record. I just wanted to keep my nose to the grindstone and keep grinding away.

I welcomed the challenge. Sergio is a friend of mine, he’s a great player and I have looked up to him for a long time. I have tremendous respect for him.

I wouldn’t trade this for $10 million. This has been the experience of a lifetime. I will draw on this and the friends I have made for a long time.
