Linkin Park music on CSI

Grammy Award-winning rock band Linkin Park’s new hit single, “Leave Out All The Rest,” will be prominently featured in the episode of CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION airing on Thursday, Nov. 6 (9:00-10:01 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. This is the first time a television series has taken the melody of a rock song and incorporated it into the underlying score of an episode in such a unique fashion.

The episode opens and closes with – and is named after – “Leave Out All The Rest,” the fifth single from Linkin Park’s latest album, Minutes to Midnight, currently approaching six million worldwide sales. Elements of “Leave Out All The Rest” are also used throughout the episode to underline and score the building story of Gil Grissom (William Petersen) and his unresolved love for Sara Sidle (Jorja Fox), who recently left the crime lab.

“We found the melody and lyrics of the song to work so well with our story, that we underscored Grissom’s emotional journey with it,” says Jason Alexander, music supervisor for CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION. “We’ve been long admirers of Linkin Park and it was wonderful for us to collaborate on something special like this.”

“We have always been huge fans of Linkin Park,” says Carol Mendelsohn, the show’s executive producer. “They have an anthemic sound that’s full of strength and simultaneous vulnerability. They were perfect for the show and the conflict within it.”

In addition to “Leave Out All The Rest,” “Minutes to Midnight” spawned four other top 10 hits (“Bleed It Out,” “What I’ve Done,” “Shadow of the Day,” “Given Up”) and, according to the IFPI (International Federation of the Phonographic Industry), earned Linkin Park the title of 2007’s best-selling rock band. In other news, Linkin Park recently received an American Music Award nomination for “Favorite Artist – Alternative Rock Music.” The band has also announced a November 25th release for “Road to Revolution,” a special CD/DVD set featuring 18 of the group’s biggest hits recorded live at the Milton Keynes National Bowl in Southeast England, during the sold-out European leg of this past summer’s Project Revolution tour.

Here’s a shot of Yao Ming taking it to the hole in NBA 2K9

Born in Taiwan R.O.C., to a rocket scientist father and kindergarten teacher mother, Mochipet (a.k.a. David Y. Wang) has cultivated his career on building a diverse musical background. Starting out in Jazz and Metal bands from Jr. high school, he now works with influential underground artists such as: Legendary Skateboarder Ray Barbee, Backpack Rapper Casual (Hieroglyphics), Ellen Allien (Berlin’s Techno Queen), Mikah9 (Freestyle Fellowship), and Spank Rock (BigDada).

Mochipet has released music around the world on labels specializing in Experimental, Techno, Hip-Hop, and Breakcore. His latest release ‘Microphonepet,’ on Daly City Records, features artists such as, Eriksolo (Sneakymoves), Bicasso (Living Legends), Jahcoozi (Kitty-Yo), Raashan Ahmad (Crown City Rocks), Dopestyle (Kutmaster Kurt & Kool Keith), and 215 Freshest Kids.

Versatility is Mochipet’s greatest strength and this may be why his music has caught the ears of so many different communities. His music has been featured on Fuel and DirecTV with skate legends such as: Tony Hawk, Lance Mountain, Christian Hasoi, and Jason ‘Weeman’ Acuna from MTV’s Jackass. His Greek opus ‘Dessert Search for Techno Baklava’ has been performed by a 20 piece experimental orchestra (Alarm Will Sound) at New York’s Carnegie Hall. The only thing we know for sure about Mochipet is that, we will never know what he will come up with next.
