Top Chef Master Anita Lo

A few days ago chef Anita Lo, owner of New York restaurant Annisa, won one of the Top Chef Masters episodes. The Quickfire Challenge was to make an egg dish with one hand, while the Elimination Challenge was to create a dinner for the actor Neil Patrick Harris. (For all you Harold and Kumar fans, that’s NPH.) The dinner takes place at the Magic Castle in Hollywood, so there’s a magic theme to the dinner.

Sayonara Davey for Funny People featuring Ken Jeong

Sayonara Davey is a fake show for the upcoming film “Funny People”. It features Adam Sandler and Ken Jeong, but there’s a bunch of stereotypical racial jokes at the expense of the Japanese. The main jokes are mispronunciation of words and the subservient female role. So many wrongs in the video.

Another fake show we posted was Yo Teach!

Reminiscence

Interesting short film with collaboration with Museum of Chinese in America, APEX (a mentoring program for inner-city Asian American youth), Asian American Film Lab (the people who put on the 72 hour shoot out),writer/director Xianoqian Chen. The short is entitled “Reminiscence.” Here’s a synopsis:

A young girl celebrates her grandmother’s birthday as they reminisce about the grandfather who has recently passed away. We travel back in memory to 1965 – the grandparents, as a young couple, overcome what looks to be the end of their burgeoning relationship when the grandfather returns to China to tend to his sick mother.

BTW – If you are in NYC, be sure to drop by the first Asian American Comic Con at Museum of Chinese in America.
