Jin vs Dizaster and Illmaculate on GrindTime

We support Asian American hip hop here including the Asian Hip Hop Summit. The main guys on tour dumbfoundead, lyraflip, and L.Satterbrain have been on GrindTime. It was a matter of time before this happened.

Jin is gonna be on GrindTime. (He’s a fan of the dumbfoundead vs tantrum battle). Are you ready to see him battle on GrindTime? A few days ago, Dizaster called Jin out in a very nasty video. Today, Jin posted a video reply to have the battle go down mid- November. But Jin may have lost his mind. Not only did he accepts Dizaster’s challenge, but he also calls out Grind Time Northwest President & Two-Time World Rap Champion Illmaculate the same day. Jin’s challengers will most likely bring up his recent videos (Jin from battle rapper to Christian rapper?, The Best, Welcome to the Light Club) in the battles. It’ll also be interesting to see if Jin’s style has changed.

These battles are gonna epic. Prediction Dizaster will be crushed. Illmaculate vs Jin will be where the action is. Jin FTW.

Update: Update on the Jin battle on GrindTime.

Dizaster calls out Jin again with racist video

Jin battles will didn’t take place at the Battle of LA 3 (BOLA3) on 12.31.09.

Jin accepts the Dizaster challenge (on 4 condidtions) and calls out Illmaculate

Why did Jin call out Illmaculate? Illmaculate disses Jin at the 1:10 mark at Grizzlemania

Jin adds clarification on his video. If everything goes through, Jin will battle on November 16 or 17, 2009

Olivia Munn on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon

Olivia Munn made her first appearance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon last night. Attack of The Show! hottie Olivia Munn and Artie Lange took over the show from Jimmy Fallon. Fallon lost complete control.

Also Olivia is very sharp. For every comment that Artie Lange threw out, Olivia Munn had a comeback. Olivia Munn + Artie Lange = Late Night Gold. We’re looking forward to Olivia Munn’s Euro megahit “Sweet Ass in Your Face” music video collabo with Kid Cudi coming soon.

Nobody by Kristine Sa

check out this music video by Kristine Sa. Here’s some commentary by Kristine about her song:

…These lyrics were originally part of a journey entry. It means to the world to me to be able to release a song without an agenda. I wrote this in one night. Passed it over to my friend, musician Tony T. Nguyen for his take on the arrangement. When the music came back to me, this demo version was recorded and mixed in one night. I had thought about going back and tweaking the vocals, the mix, etc. But I didn’t. This little video was filmed in a one day on location in Malibu, CA. And was edited in one memorizing, lonely night. I meant to do the whole thing only to be shared online for free with you. And it feels wonderful to be able to do so. I thank you for being connected. I thank God for the creative outlets. And I thank the following people for lending a helping hand in this little song and video: chi Tam Doan, anh Tien Dung, Tony T. Nguyen, Johnny “JP” Phan, anh Matt Dung Nguyen, & Andy La. Last but not least, may I dedicate this song to anyone who’s ever felt alone, in sharing this song with you, I am less lonely and I thank you for that.

Nobody by Kristine Sa

Lyrics to Nobody by Kristine Sa

I’ve been blessed with praise, but the price that I pay–

Nobody knows. Nobody sees. Nobody cares.

You walked me home at the end of the day. But you didn’t stay.

Where you had to go, you needed to be, and I wasn’t there.

How could possibly think I’d wait.

While you decided your fate.

Keep all your words that sounded like home

I’ll cry myself to sleep alone

Nobody needs to know

Take all this hurt out of my home

I’d rather die here than let it all show

Nobody needs to know

I showed you all, the strong and the weak– the pieces of me

were yours to keep. And when time came to leap, I watched you leave.

I couldn’t set you free, couldn’t let you fly. You were never mine.

And when you left, I broke down and wept, along on my knees.

I prayed that you’d never come back again.

God give me a chance to mend.

Keep all your words that sounded like home

I’ll cry myself to sleep alone

Nobody needs to know

Take all this hurt out of my home

I’d rather die here than let it all show

Nobody needs to know

I let you in. Show you my cards…

You broke my heart.

momofuku kimchi with David Chang on Today Show

David Chang shows you how to make kimchi (momofuku style) on the Today Show. For people that do know how to make kimchi, you might not like David Chang’s version. You can see the recipe below. Also pick up the momofuku cookbook.

momofuku kimchi with David Chang on Today Show

Napa cabbage kimchi (aka Paechu kimchi)

Makes 1 to 1½ quarts

INGREDIENTS

• 1 small to medium head Napa cabbage, discolored or loose outer leaves discarded

• 2 tablespoons kosher or coarse sea salt

• 1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons sugar

• 20 garlic cloves, minced

• 20 slices peeled fresh ginger, minced

• 1/2 cup kochukaru (Korean chile powder)

• 1/4 cup fish sauce

• 1/4 cup usukuchi (light soy sauce)

• 2 teaspoons jarred salted shrimp

• 1/2 cup 1-inch pieces scallions (greens and whites)

• 1/2 cup julienned carrots

DIRECTIONS

Cut the cabbage lengthwise in half, then cut the halves crosswise into 1-inch-wide pieces. Toss the cabbage with the salt and 2 tablespoons of the sugar in a bowl. Let sit overnight in the refrigerator.

Combine the garlic, ginger, kochukaru, fish sauce, soy sauce, shrimp, and remaining ½ cup sugar in a large bowl. If it is very thick, add water 1/3 cup at a time until the brine is just thicker than a creamy salad dressing but no longer a sludge. Stir in the scallions and carrots.

Drain the cabbage and add it to the brine. Cover and refrigerate. Though the kimchi will be tasty after 24 hours, it will be better in a week and at its prime in 2 weeks. It will still be good for another couple weeks after that, though it will grow stronger and funkier.
