Apl.de.ap, the Filipino American member of the international hip hop group Black Eyed Peas, has collaborated with the Tourism Department of the Philippines and MTV Asia to promote the Philippines through his music. Apl.de.ap wrote the lyrics to the song which highlights the tourist destinations in the Philippines such as warm blue waters, white sands, parties in Manila, Pampanga food, Filipino culture and hospitality and adventure rides. He said going back to the Philippines “keeps me grounded” and “reminds me of where I came from.”

He’s definitely in touch with his roots and culture. Recently, he’s released “Mama Filipina” and “U Can Dream“. Both videos have heavy Filipino influence.
