This Is It x Dancing Inmates

The Filipino “Dancing Inmates” from Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC) were visited by Michael Jackson’s long-time choreographer Travis Payne and dancers Daniel Celebre and Dres Reid to learn performances from THIS IS IT. They created a viral video used to promote the DVD release of Michael Jackson’s This Is It. You’ve probably seen the orange clad inmates are best known for is the recreation of Michael Jackson’s Thriller on prison grounds. (The also did a Michael Jackson tribute last year.) In the promo video, the inmates wear the a black “This Is It” T-shirt, but their pants are still orange. Sony is taking a big risk with this promotional concept.

You can pick up This Is It on Amazon.

Talking About The Last Airbender by Racebending.com

The Racebending crew created a new video series on how to talk about The Last Airbender. Having trouble explaining to people why you feel so passionately about the casting of The Last Airbender film? (In other words, why there’s a problem with whitewashing an Asian character.) Previously, they did a video explaining the casting in 60 seconds.

Introduction to a short series on The Last Airbender film. How do you talk to people about this when passions are running so high?

Were the original characters white? How can you tell that they weren’t?

How was The Last Airbender movie cast?

Is there no such thing as a talented, profitable Asian American actor? Is the smart business decision to whitewash? Are Americans just not ready for films with people of color? Or is it time for something different than “the way things are”?

Do You Remember by BLYSS

Here’s the latest video by members of BLYSS. This time it’s Jasmine Rafael, Jenny Suk, & Cathy Nguyen doing their rendition of Jay Sean’s “Do You Remember“. We love how their vocals complements each others. Don’t worry Kat Badar is still there. She just couldn’t make the session.

In future BLYSS videos, you will see a combination of members from only 2 to all 4 making videos. They don’t all live near each other, so it’s hard for all of them to be together ALL of the time.
