Poreotix (aka Poreotics) on America’s Best Dance Crew

Tune in tonite on America’s Best Dance Crew and look for Poreotix (aka Poreotics). You can’t miss this shade-wearing human robot crew. They’ll be poppin’ to “Right Hand Hi” by Kid Sister. Here’s more about them:

These shaded showmen inspired by robots aim to entertain the dance world with their unexpected humor and revolutionary mixed style. Over the last couple of years, Poreotix has laboriously honed their craft of popping and robotic movement and are at the top of their game. The way in which the crew blends the different dance styles gives them a distinctive animated look, and their integration of humor makes their performances fiercely entertaining. Poreotix are true showmen and never perform without their trademark shades. They use them as a tool to hide emotion so they can provide unexpected twists in their routine, taking the audience from serious to funny without tipping their hand.

Also on tonite is The Hype 5-0. Other crews on this season to look for include Static Noyze, Blueprint Cru, and Swagger Crew.

The Zhangs Visa Olympics Commercial

Here’s a Visa commercial about the 2006 Winter Olympics figure skaters Zhang Dan and Zhang Hao. It’s not about how many times you fall, but what you do when you get up. The pair won silver 4 years ago despite taking spill on the ice. For the 2008 Summer Olympics, Visa had a Jackie Chan commercial. This time around Visa is going for inspiration rather than comedy.

Winter Olympics starts tomorrow. Tune in.

Michelle Phan now a Lancôme Guru

Michelle Phan, a 22-year-old art school student, is the official video makeup artist for Lancôme and the most popular makeup artist on YouTube. Michelle’s how-to videos have been viewed more than 100 million times and she has more than 500,000 subscribers on her YouTube channel. She recently became the number one “guru” on YouTube.

Michelle joined the Lancôme team in February 2010 as the brand’s first-ever video makeup artist. She will be creating special videos, among other responsibilities. Michelle came to Lancôme’s attention because she had used several of the brand’s products in her videos and Lancôme was captivated by her unique approach to the medium. “Lancôme is legendary, so I was shocked when they reached out to me,” she says. “I’m very excited about the things we’ll be doing together.”

Michelle is a self-taught makeup artist who transformed her favorite hobby into something that has inspired people around the world. She made her very first video, “Natural Looking Makeup Tutorial,” in spring 2007 and uploaded it to YouTube that May. Since then, she has created and posted more than 80 videos, each filmed and edited by Michelle alone, using her JVC camcorder and the iMovie software on her MacBook Pro. Her video subjects range from basic how-to’s to elaborate transformations into a range of characters.

Pixelated by Passion

Here’s a case where technology helps romance. For those in long distance relationships, listen to this new song from Passion called “Pixelated,” dedicated to his girlfriend, Claire. Even with all the digital tools like twitter, webcam, facebook, the phone, and skype, it doesn’t replace being next to the person you love.

Also check out these Valentine’s Day songs: Valentine by Kina Grannis, Valentine by SHINY x Albert Posis, and The Way You Do by Jennifer Chung

BTW – Wong Fu Productions also has a series about how Technology Ruins Romance.

Here it comes again

2nd month again

It’s time.

Paper hearts again

Red’s and pinks ascend

Valentine’s

Don’t tell me plans for the day

Your romance doesn’t play on my mp3 player

Don’t wanna see PDA

Or the gifts that you made

Cuz she’s sooo far away.

And I

wish you were here by my side

And I

Can’t seem to understand why

Why we have to be so pixelated, so pixelated

Don’t understand why

Why we have to be so pixelated, so pixelated,

Call me lonely

Call me bitter

You’re probably right

I only see her on twitter,

and webcam, facebook, the phone, and on skype.

Love and long distance ain’t easy

for me and clairici

But love finds its way

Hearts full of affection

Through lag disconnections

We’re here to stay.

But I

wish you were here by my side

And I

Can’t seem to understand why

Why we have to be so pixelated, so pixelated

Don’t understand why

Why we have to be so pixelated, so pixelated,
