High School Sucks – The Musical Theme song

High School Sucks - The Musical Theme song

Traphik aka Timothy DeLaGhetto is in a new musical called High School Sucks. Supposedly, it’s not a spoof of High School Musical. This is a more real portrayal of what REALLY happens in high school, (sex and drugs) through the magic of song and dance! The opening scene of the movie was released online yesterday. It’s a full clip sneak peek from the feature film “High School Sucks The Musical” coming to a theater/dvd player to you soon. So far so clean, but we’re expecting it to be more adult situations in this high school. Here’s who you can expect in the cast:

David Choi YouTube account suspended

On Memorial Day, David Choi’s YouTube account (http://www.youtube.com/davidchoimusic) was suspended for copyright violations. Days earlier, David Choi stated that he may lose his YouTube account. (Read the post to get the details on why his account got into trouble.) With his account suspended, his fans have come out to support him. There’s a twitter campaign #FreeDavidChoiMusic started by Ryan Higa along with a Facebook page (Youtube sucks for taking DavidChoiMusic down) and an online petition created by fans:

Dear YouTube,

We (all the David Choi supporters) are really disappointed in Youtube for suspending davidchoimusic channel on May 31st 2010. He is such a talented music artist and a great guy. He honestly doesn’t deserve even the slightest bit to be suspended from YouTube just because of a few covers (which by the way are awesome!) he did. Please bring his channel back to YouTube. Please, YouTube!!

To all David Choi fans and supporters, HELP David get his channel back on YouTube…Together we CAN make a difference! I believe that! We all love David and his music… And if just by signing up to this petition you can help David and support him and his channel, why not raise your voice and make a difference? Let us express how we all feel about this whole issue to YouTube, guys…

And David Choi, we all love you and support you entirely!!!

You can sign the petition here

Besides fan support, David Choi’s been talking with the publishers. He recently tweeted that he may get his YouTube channel back soon. Let’s hope David Choi and the record labels work something out. For those suffering from David Choi withdrawal, Wong Fu Productions still has David Choi music videos up for That Girl and Won’t Even Start.

Update: David Choi’s YouTube account is back as of 6.7.10.

Fellow YouTuber Ryan Higa’s had his account suspended and videos removed before. Here’s a video he previously created

Update: David Choi updates on the current situation. He hopes the publisher will remove some of the strikes against his YouTube account.

Update on 6/5/10: from David Choi on facebook “Update on my account: Waiting until Monday for one of the publishers to take off two strikes. I called and she has to ask her lawyer in the next week. Other publisher, she’s meeting her lawyers and the band’s managers to discuss.”

Padma Lakshmi on Nightline

Padma Lakshmi on Nightline

Padma Lakshmi, the host of Bravo’s “Top Chef,” was profiled on Nightline yesterday. She is a woman of many talents. Not only is she a TV host, but she’s also a model, cookbook author, actress, jewelry maker, and mother. (One look at the Padma Lakshmi Carls’ Jr. commercial and you’ll quickly see how she combines her talents.) She’s always had a passion for food since childhood as she grew up in New York after immigrating from India. Even when she was modeling, she’d visit the local markets.

With all the success she’s had, Padma Lakshmi doesn’t hide the fact that she’s not perfect. She doesn’t hide her deep long scar on her arm, the result of a car accident as a teen. As a model, she didn’t hide it or cover it up. She also suffers from endometriosis, when the tissue that makes up the lining of the uterus begins to grow outside of the womb. The cells can spread to other organs in the abdomen, causing pain, cramping, scar tissue and infertility. After several surgeries for endometriosis, she gave birth to her baby girl, Krishna. Saigon Electric Teaser

Saigon Electric Teaser

Here’s a sneak peek at a film currently in production called Saigon Electric. It’s billed as Vietnam’s first hip hop movie and set for mid-December release. From writer-director Stephane Gauger (OWL & THE SPARROW), this teaser was put together after only one week of shooting. The movie is shooting in Saigon through June! For more updates, visit the website here.

Saigon Electric synopsis

Mai, a traditional ribbon dancer from the outskirts of Saigon arrives to the big city and forms an unlikely friendship with Kim, a rebellious street dancer who introduces her to the underground scene of hip hop crews in modern-day Vietnam.

Thoughts from director Stephane Gauger

In my wish of telling universal stories with a global outlook and a distinctly Vietnamese point of view, the seeds of “Saigon Electric” were planted. Continuing the themes of my first narrative feature “Owl and the Sparrow”, my hope is to create a visceral landscape of the hustle and bustle in modernized Vietnam. More than half of Vietnam’s current population is under the age of eighteen, born after the American War. As the doors of the West have opened up to the nation and consumerism weaves its way into the value system, youth culture is seeping onto the streets of Vietnam. Hip-hop, graffiti artists, and punk rock are alive. My wish is to give these teenagers a voice and present to an international audience a fresh new look at the dreams and struggles of Asian youth.
