Grown Ups with Rob Schneider

Grown Ups with Rob Schneider

Don’t know how we missed this one. Comedian Rob Schneider is one of the main cast members of the movie “Grown Ups”. Here’s more about the film:

Grown Ups, starring Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock, David Spade, and Rob Schneider, is a comedy about five friends and former teammates who reunite years later to honor the passing of their childhood basketball coach. With their wives (Salma Hayek, Maria Bello, Maya Rudolph) and kids in tow, they spend the Fourth of July holiday weekend together at the lake house where they celebrated their championship years earlier. Picking up where they left off, they discover why growing older doesn’t mean growing up.

Movie critics seem to hate the film (Rotten Tomatoes has a 9% rating on it. That pretty bad!). However, on opening weekend the movie raked in over $40 million to hold the second spot in the box office. Get tickets at Fandango or movietickets.com Some of the marketing on Grown Ups must have rubbed off on Rob Schneider’s first comedy album “Registered Offender”. He’s using childhood photos for the cover. Check out Graduation Speech by Rob Schneider.

Senator Daniel Inouye third in line for Presidency

Senator Daniel Inouye third in line for Presidency

With the passing of Senator Robert Byrd Monday, Senator Daniel Inouye of Hawaii is now the most senior member of the U.S. Senate with 47 years of service. On Monday, Senator Inouye replaced Senator Byrd as President pro-tempore of the U.S. Senate. The President pro-tempore of the Senate presides over the Senate in the absence of the Vice President (Joe Biden) and is third in line for the Presidency after the Speaker of the House (Nancy Pelosi). Although largely ceremonial, it is interesting to know that an Asian American is in the line of succession for the Presidency.

Dumbfoundead x Wax (aka Clockwise) dropped a music video for their song “Professional Rap”. The well dressed rappers hit up a karaoke bar with double date action, drinking, and singing. Keep your bars up and watch your wallet. You can get this track off the Clockwise album available at Wax. Also check out the music video It’s On off the same album.

This music video reminds us of Ktown Cowboys episode 7. (It may have taken place in the next room over. hahahaha!!!)

L.A. (my home) by Marie Digby

L.A. (my home) by Marie Digby

In her latest original song, Marie Digby does a tribute to her hometown of Los Angeles. She shares her thought behind the song, L.A. (my home):

As some of you already know, I was raised in Los Angeles..I’ve been here since I was 2 years old and I’ve met so many people who come in and out of the city from different places, chasing after their dreams. In my late teens and early 20’s, I met a lot of aspiring musicians (some of whom became my best friends) but I also had to quickly learn that I’d always end up saying goodbye to them in a matter of years. I have watched some careers sky rocket and many dreams shattered as well.. it’s heartbreaking. But while the others come and go, I always remain here .. because Los Angeles IS my home. I understand the allure of this city and see how cold and cruel it can be as well.. it’s fascinating.

For people who love LA, check these other tracks: Do or Die by Vox Merger x Far East Movement and Bridge & Tunnel by Ming & Ping. And if you hate LA traffic, peep Running on Empty by Ross Ching.

Lyrics to L.A. (my home) by Marie Digby

The trees of this city never change
the color of leaves, it stays the same
and it’s easy to lose track of time
I’ve watched strangers come and go
bags empty, but holding hope
but it’s easy to be forgotten in this crowd

Here in this city
you’re just like everyone
trying hard to find
something to call your own
all of the people
i have ever met
they never stay for long
i always watch them go
but this is my home.. my home.. my home..

the lights of this city always prove
to be powerful, it seduces you
but the closer you get
it’s not quite as it seems
and I’m just trying to claim a place
tracing lines around the stars I see
hope I make a mark
so they’ll remember my name

But here in this city
i’m just like everyone
trying hard to find
something to call my own
all of the people
i have ever known
they never stay for long
i always watch them go
but this is my home.. my home.. home
this is my home

what if i’m just a fish in the sea
sitting on the ocean floor
what if you’re just a bird up above
waiting to dive in for me
maybe we’re all drifters
searching for our treasure …
