The Video Website (The Social Network Parody)

The Video Website (The Social Network Parody)

This was bound to happen. Youtube follows the lead of the upcoming movie “The Social Network” about Facebook. They decide to make a highly dramatic, fictionalized account on the creation of Youtube. Check out the parody for “The Video Website” starring Scott Takeda as Youtube co-founder Steve Chen. The trailers got it all cats playing pianos, sneezing panadas, and Charlie bit my finger. Sorry, no Brenda Song in this trailer.

You Can Win by David Choi

You Can Win by David Choi

David Choi did an acoustic YouTube video for his song “You Can Win” off his By My Side album. On the video, he’s got annotations that says “I don’t need you record labels”. Although the song is probably about a relationship, his annotations makes us think that this around version might revolve around his tense relationship with record labels. A few month back, David Choi got his YouTube channel suspended for about a week. He managed to work things out with the record labels and got his YouTube channel back. The whole suspension of his account was due to cover songs from certain labels.

Lyrics to You Can Win by David Choi

You can win this fight
You don’t have to listen
To anything I say
There’s nothing I could do
You take my breath away
And all that I believe in
I’m slowly drowning here with you

I tell you that I’m here
And I tell you what I feel
But I feel you’re so far
And I don’t know where you are
You tell me what you think
You tell me that you’re trying
I want to believe you are
I want to believe you are

And I won’t say you’re wrong

You can win this fight
You don’t have to listen
To anything I say
There’s nothing I could do
You take my breath away
And all that I believe in
I’m slowly drowning here with you

Everything I hide
Is held inside your chest
With every single heartbeat
My picture fades to gray
I belong to you
I made you that promise
It’s all because of you
I only say the things I do

And I won’t say you’re wrong

You can win this fight
You don’t have to listen
To anything I say
There’s nothing I could do
You take my breath away
And all that I believe in
I’m slowly drowning here with you
You can win this fight
Take it so it’s done
Again I’ll put aside my pride
I can only do so much

You can win this fight
You don’t have to listen
To anything I say
There’s nothing I could do
You take my breath away
And all that I believe in
I’m slowly drowning here with you

Kollaboration is the largest Asian Pacific American (APA) talent showcase in North America that has been active for 11 years and has grown into a massive grassroots movement within diverse APA communities. Kollaboration is bringing its Acoustic 4 show back at an intimate location at the Ford Amphitheatre for another unique evening of music and inspiring new talents.

Kollaboration Acoustic 4 will bring to the arena musicians that perform their vocals with various non‐electrical instruments such as percussion, string and woodwind instruments. For this annual talent competition, 11 musical acts were selected after a competitive round of auditions in front of Kollaboration judges. Similar to past performers, many of this year’s performers have already garnered well established internet and regional followings, while others are looking to Kollaboration Acoustic 4 to introduce their talents to a new fan base. This year’s performers to compete for First Place and $1,000 include: Alex & Jackie (Alex Hwang & Jackie Kim), Justis Kao, Esna Yoon, FlowEthics, Sorah Yang & Brian Fang, Peony (Judy Lee), Hippie Hippie Hoorah, Lily Bee (Lilian Bui), Johnny Le & Iris Leonardo, Misscarolinexoxo and Dawen.

Marié Digby at Kollaboration Acoustic 4

In addition to the talent in the competition, Acoustic 4 will feature YouTube phenom and Hollywood Records recording artist Marié Digby as a guest judge and headlining performer. Ms. Digby first hit the national stage last year when a homemade video of her performing an acoustic cover of Rihanna’s “Umbrella” made her a YouTube sensation (12 million views to date). The first child of a Japanese mother and Irish‐American father, the Los Angeles native first started writing her own songs at age 15 on a $50 guitar she bought on a whim. Her first album, Unfold, debuted at #29 on the Billboard chart, #2 on the iTunes album chart, #3 on Billboard’s Digital Top 100 album chart and prompted a successful string of film and television placements for her songs including ER, Greek, The Hills, One Tree Hill, and Smallville. Ms. Digby release her debut film “Breathing Underwater” this summer.

Kollaboration Acoustic 4 will also present a special comedy performance “ChannelPKtown” by Kollaboration’s very own founder Paul “PK” Kim. Paul “PK” Kim, who has stepped down from his post as Executive Director of Kollaboration, will make a friendly appearance to showcase a medley of his new pieces. Guest performers and guest judges, in addition to Marié Digby and PK, will be joining the expanding lineup and announced closer to the event date.
