KevJumba & his dad to be on Amazing Race Season 17

KevJumba & his dad will be on the Amazing Race Season 17. Kevin and Michael Wu will be one of the 11 teams competing on the new season of The Amazing Race, premiering Sunday, September 26, 2010. We’ve seen this father/son team make us laugh on YouTube, but now the duo is set to break through to the mainstream. KevJumba fans will recall that he “disappeared” over the summer for about a month. Presumably, he was globetrotting around the world with his dad on the show.

We won’t know how far in the race the pair will go until the Amazing Race airs, but this season contestants will travel over 32,000 Miles, spanning four continents and 30 cities, with inaugural Visits to Bangladesh, Ghana and a Trek Deep into the Arctic Circle. Additionally, for the first time in the history of the Race, the Team to finish in first place during the premiere episode will be awarded a surprise, game-changing advantage.

We’ll be tuning in to see how far they get.

More about Amazing Race Season 17
The new season features Racers from all walks of life, including a Team of Home Shopping hosts, newly dating couples, an Internet entertainer, Ivy League a cappella singers and a birth mother/daughter Team who were recently reunited after the mother gave her newborn daughter up for adoption over 20 years ago.

The Amazing Race sends 11 teams on a trek around the world. Each Team is comprised of two people who have a pre-existing relationship with one another. At every destination, each Team competes in a series of challenges – some mental and some physical – and when the tasks have been completed, they learn their next destination. Teams who are farthest behind will gradually be eliminated as the contest progresses, with the first team to arrive at the final destination winning $1 million.

I’ve actually never even seen the show but because of Kevjumba I actually watched it for the first time today. It was so disapointing that Amazing Race barely gave Kevin and his dad any air time. I don’t understand the why they are prefering to air some of the contestants over others already.

I have a feeling they are not getting much of the airtime during the first episode because IMO they made it pretty far into the competition where they will have more opportunities for the screen. Let’s hope so.

They base air time by the leads of the contestants. If Kev and PapaJumba were in the first few places, they definitely would’ve had WAY more air time. If you didn’t notice, the people who are slower get less airtime. It’s just done like that.
