High profile people in the music industry are reppin’ Far East Movement. Snoop Dogg gave FM a shoutout and 50 Cent remixed Like a G6. Now, Bruno Mars x Phillip Lawrence x Cee Lo Green gave a shout to Far East Movement too. Toward the end of the clip, Phillip Lawrence exclaims “Good luck topping us,” referring to the song Just The Way You Are. This week, Like a G6 by Far East Movement did indeed top them taking the #1 spot on the Billboard 100. Three fingers up for Asian American on top of the music charts.

Check out Wong Fu Productions’ latest music video. They’re branching out of just Asian American music video with Cali Cali Cali by Alyssa Bernal. The pop newcomer may be a Texas girl at heart, but in her new video, she’s California dreamin. Here’s Wong Fu Productions comments on making the music video:

The first music video we’ve ever made for a major record label (Alyssa is signed to Interscope/StarTrak). It’s also Alyssa’s first single for her debut. This is our first time working with Alyssa, AND it’s our first time making a music video for a female solo artist!

Not only that, but it was one of the most stressful times this yr putting together the project. We had a little over a week to go from “Hey WF, wanna do this?” to “Rolling! Action!”(concept-preproduction). Normally, this is something WFP has done in the past, tight schedules, no prob… but this was different because we had never worked with a record label, on the scale that they expected. So there was A LOT of learning, frantic moments, and last minute decisions and miracles.

A great thing about this mv is that we were able to mix the way WF normally does things (small crew, guerilla style) with the industry way (permits, budgets). The label was thankfully impressed with our work ethic and final product, and gave us much creative freedom which was really awesome of them. Alyssa of course was outstanding. She was so sweet yet professional, sticking through long shoots, giving it her all, performing naturally, all while looking beautiful and composed.

The music video is beautifully shot and edited by Wong Fu Productions. Check out Alyssa’s new video for her breakout single, “Cali, Cali, Cali.” Look for a cameo by Phil Wang.
