Picture Perfect by Jay Legaspi

Jay Legaspi dropped his music video for Picture Perfect. The playful love song has a fun music video to match from the Jersey-based singer/songwriter. In the video, Jay Legaspi compares his romance to that the ones you see in the movies. It’s dedicated to anyone who believes that romance in real life is better than anything scripted on paper. The track is the first single and the title song of the album, Picture Perfect.

Lyrics to Picture Perfect by Jay Legaspi

Verse 1:
It was somewhere in between the crossing of that street
And stepping on the other side that I became aware of time
And I could swear, the big and little hands on 3:16
Were pointing right at you–slightly back and right of me

And that’s when I thought
Of what I’d give to take this day as something we’d celebrate
Each passing month
It made me have to pause
To stop and look around for cameras

Chorus:
I’m waiting for someone to say, “Cut the take,”
It’s way too picture perfect, a scene unlikely to occur ’cause it’s
A chance so golden it should only have a hold on the silver screen
Why would it happen to me?
Oh I…maybe I shouldn’t doubt
Just keep my mouth shut, let go
Enjoying how it all plays out

Verse 2:
It was halfway down that block, my balance seemed to stop
And I was sober but I had to try to walk in a straight line
‘Cause it was like gravity would pull me to your side
And my fingers would tingle when yours happened to brush mine

And that’s when I thought
If forces out of our control were pulling strings to keep us close
And like a response
To what I had in mind
You tripped I caught you and then we caught eyes

Chorus:
I’m waiting for someone to say, “Cut the take,”
It’s way too picture perfect, a scene unlikely to occur ’cause it’s
A chance so golden it should only have a hold on the silver screen
Why would it happen to me?
Oh I…maybe I shouldn’t doubt
Just keep my mouth shut, let go
Enjoying how it all plays out

Bridge:
Next comes the part when
We stay at an arm’s length
But we have our arms bent
And I swear that all of this
Seems to be following a script

Verse 3:
And now I’m inches from your lips–where distance makes no sense
And I could hear the credits roll as I moved in…

Chorus:
I’m waiting for someone to say, “Cut the take,”
It’s way too picture perfect, a scene unlikely to occur ’cause it’s
A chance so golden it should only have a hold on the silver screen
But thank God it happened to me
Oh I…maybe I shouldn’t doubt
Just keep my mouth shut, let go
Enjoying how it all plays out

Youth Charge Now!

Youth Charge Now!

Leveraging the digital social networks popular among students, Youth Charge Now! launched a nationwide campaign to educate and encourage youth to become leaders in civic engagement. In partnership with Asian Pacific Islander American Vote, Engage Her a national organization promoting leadership among multicultural youth and communities has partnered with dozens of organizations aimed at the millions of Asian American and Pacific Islander youth new to the political arena.

In many states the Asian American population has risen dramatically like: California, New York, Washington, Texas, New Jersey and Hawaii. In California, where Asians comprised 14% of the overall state population in 2006, their votes can have dramatic impact on the outcome of hotly contested battles like the Governorship and Senate race. Asian youth have the X-factor: they influence their family, friends and communities to engage and vote. The Youth Charge Now! campaign is encouraging Asian American students to recruit others to join the organization, including $500 in cash and the chance to win a Kollaboration Concert at their college or university. Kollaboration is a popular concert series incorporating hip hop and rap music performed by APA youth in venues across the United States.

The campaign will use digital tools, such as texting, YouTube videos and enlist popular Asian American YouTube celebrities to create a national network of connections around civic engagement and voting. The Youth Charge Now! campaign has signed up the leading APA national youth and community partners – including Asian Pacific Islander American Vote, East Coast Asian American Student Union, Midwest Asian American Student Union, KAYA: Filipinos for Progress and National Association of Asian American Professionals. The website lso offers an optional voter registration through a partnership with Votolatino.org’s United We Win and partners with VoteAgain 2010 with their 35+ youth partners to promote voting in the midterm elections targeted to multicultural communities. The long-term goal of the campaign is to mobilize APIA youth to become involved and supportive of key issues that face our youth.
