All over the world!

I come from Angeles City Pompango
Allen Pineda cane and share us in the struggle
I’ve been working ever since I was younger
Saying with the earth through grounds to the thunder

We got our own food, now tell me whose drama
I ate no food, I’m all about the Pumpa
Now this goes up to all the workers, all the farmers,
All the builders and the carpenters, working hard for someone
Yeah

CHORUS
Keep on, keep on workin’
All my people are there, we be workin’
Get it paid minimum wage of workin’
It’s dedicated to my people all over
All over the world…(X 18)

For my people from the Philippine Island
We gonna fight to make it right cause it’s our land
The world economically struggle and
Most of us are governed by hunt to try to hustle, damn…

That’s why we grunning just to make a dialog,
Turned into a far dialog
Everybody screaming “holla”
Must my people get me shutter?

No, just keep on gettin’ harder,
Mother, sister, sister, father
Working overseas, gettin money for the grandfathers
Yeah

CHORUS
Keep on, keep on workin’
All my people are there, we be workin’
Get it paid minimum wage of workin’

It’s dedicated to my people all over
All over the world…(X 18)

We’re working trying to build a house
For some food into the mouth
Family, you’ve got a fee-
Money to the grocery

Kids’ve got to go to school
Make sh*t at their stomachs fool
Five to nine, nine to five
Every day just to survive

Anyway, all the time
From Dubai to PR
From Dublin to Senegal
Senegal to amway

Everybody know somebody
Abidabi workin’ men
Mother, daughter, sister, uncle
Undertaken workin’ men
For someone

CHORUS
Keep on, keep on workin’
Oh mama, grann, all the time I be workin’
Get it paid minimum wage of workin’
It’s dedicated to my people all over
All over the world…(X 18)

He’s the king of the Philippines
He’s the king of the Philippines
Allen Pineda, Pineda,
King of the Philippines…

I’m Filipino! Filipino!
Filipino! Filipino!
All over the world…

My Wedding and Other Secrets

My Wedding and Other Secrets

A romantic comedy with a Kiwi-Asian twist, “My Wedding and Other Secrets” follows a young couple, Emily and James, who have to overcome the expectations of Emily’s parents in order to bring happiness to themselves and those around them. The film takes you on a journey through a cultural minefield, navigating the divide between the traditional values of immigrant parents and the contemporary aspirations of their children in a new land. Here’s a synopsis:

Funny, touching and heartfelt, “My Wedding and Other Secrets” is the contemporary story of Chinese New Zealand-born over-achiever Emily Chu, raised to believe she can get anything she puts her mind to. Even if ‘anything’ is at odds with her traditional Hong Kong born parents’ wish for her to become a doctor like her two older sisters. Everything is coming up roses – until she meets James, a European New Zealander, and accidentally falls in love with him. But if her father finds out, she will face disownment.

By the time Emily realizes that she’s sacrificing the respect of her family to follow her heart, James, too, has fallen irrevocably in love and there’s nothing for it but to try and keep their relationship a secret. Happy endings don’t come easy, if at all, but that doesn’t mean they don’t happen. But for Emily to get one, she needs to show James and her family that she has learned a lesson about the selflessness of love.

It’s based on the real-life cross cultural romance of first-time feature film writer/director Roseanne Liang. Michelle Ang (Outrageous Fortune, No.2) stars in the lead role of Emily while Matt Whelan (Go Girls) stars as her love interest James. Kenneth Tsang and Cheng Pei Pei, two of Asia’s most famous film stars, play Emily’s parents, Dr and Mrs Chu.

My Wedding and Other Secrets is slated for a nationwide New Zealand release on March 17, 2011, but it may make its way to an Asian American film festival near you.

Liu Xiaobo - Nobel Peace Laureate

Today is International Human Rights Day and YouTube has profiled Nobel Peace Laureate Liu Xiaobo

Liu Xiaobo, one of the most outspoken critics of the Chinese government, spent a year and a half in prison after the 1989 Tiananmen Square peaceful protests, and in 1996 was imprisoned for three years for criticizing China’s policy toward Taiwan and the Dalai Lama. Last year, he was sentenced to a further 11 years for co-authoring Charter 08, a petition to mark the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. A former university professor, Liu Xiaobo won the 2010 Nobel Peace Prize. Human Rights Watch honors Liu Xiaobo for his fearless commitment to freedom of expression and assembly in China.

Liu Xiaobo remains in prison on an 11 year charge for subversion and now the Chinese government have arrested his wife. In this, Liu Xiaobo’s most recent interview, the man about to claim the Nobel peace prize discusses life under China’s authoritarian regime. This interview of Liu Xiaobo was before he was sent to jail here.

“The driving force for positive change within the Chinese political system does not come from the top. It comes from the ordinary people and it’s unstoppable”. Xiaobo discusses humanitarian issues in Tibet and China, the Chinese governments harassment of his family, and the possibilities for democracy in China. “I’m the one who has brought fear into their hearts. So deep down I feel guilt but sometimes that can turn into fear”. He also speaks about what he sees as the growing number of dissidents, like himself, willing to speak out against the Chinese government. “Doing the pro-democracy work I do, the fear of being sent to prison at any time. Doesn’t actually scare me too much. If it did I wouldn’t have been doing this work for the last 19 years”.
