Songs Your Girl Likes by CHOPS

Songs Your Girl Likes by CHOPS

Music producer CHOPS flexes his creativity with his latest remix album “Songs Your Girl Likes.” Much like his previous mixtapes, he doesn’t stick to his hip hop roots. On the “Songs Your Girl Likes” remixes, he gives you new looks on what he’s capable of from pop to jazz to soul to electro-hiphop. Some of the tracks he switches up the genre of music completely.

The remixes kicks off the album with a soul-filled version of U Smile by Justin Bieber and concludes with a remix of remixes of Like a G6. He manages to combined elements of the original Like a G6 with the 50 Cent remix and a dash of Three 6 mafia. CHOPS also puts his touches on “Just The Way You Are by Bruno Mars” by adding some retro vibes. He’s got some originals in the mix too including The Camera Loves You, Cougar, and Let’s Get Up Outta Here. He can be on both side of the mic.

Jeremy Lin post game interview with Reno Bighorns

Jeremy Lin post game interview with Reno Bighorns

During his first game during his second reassignment to the Reno Bighorns, Jeremy Lin got 21 points, seven rebounds, six assists, and three steals. He’s taking a different point of view on the D-League. “Being able to come down here has been a blessing in disguise for me,” said Lin at Wednesday’s game. “It’s been huge for my development as a player so I’m trying to try to take advantage of it.” His stats with the Reno Bighorn show that. After five games in Reno he is averaging 18.6 points on .527 (29-55) shooting from the field. “To be honest I was struggling with it,” said Lin about Golden State’s decision to assign him to Reno. “I felt like I was being demoted or not good enough to play in the NBA. But now it’s changed my perspective. I wouldn’t be able to put this work in with the Warriors. I’m just trying to learn and grow until I’m ready for the Warriors to call me back up.”

The Warriors are watching his development, even sending some people from the front office to the game. “I’ve noticed that I’ve done some good things, but there are some things I want to improve on that I want to keep focusing on”, said Lin. “Things like getting more assists and cutting down on my turnovers. Getting more rebounds, shooting three-pointers better, there are a lot of areas of improvement that I can work on. We have a guy right here, who came to watch. I’m getting a lot of feedback from him after my games.” He knows things won’t be easy for him being Asian American in the NBA. “There’s going to be a target on my back, but I think that’s the case even if I wasn’t on an NBA roster,” said Lin. “There’s the case of me having a lot of publicity in terms of being an Asian-American player, so a lot of guys will come at me. My heritage means a lot to me. I’m very proud to be of Asian heritage and I just want to reach my potential as a player.”

Silent Library’s Zero Kazama flexes his muscles in indie filmmaking with his project “Freezer Burn.” The film fuses martial arts with parkour in a slick style to create a new vision of zombie slaughter. Here’s a synopsis:

In a future time the zombie population has exploded and replaced the human race as the dominate species. Few secure areas remain, Safe Zones, where humans can live some type of “normal” life free of the zombie plague. There is a breach in one of the Safe Zones which has become overrun with zombies. A group of friends turned zombie fighters have left the now unsafe area to rendezvous and head west to another Safe Zone. Logan and Ava wait for instructions and weapons from Donovan at a location designated by Donovan. They are unaware of the status of the other members of their team. While Logan recognizes Donovan’s authority and demands they wait, Ava is skeptical that he has even survived and wants to move on, especially when they are confronted with zombies heading to their location.

Shanghai Kiss on Hulu

Shanghai Kiss on Hulu

Asian American film Shanghai Kiss has landed on Hulu. If you missed it on the film festival circuit a few years back, you can watch the full movie for FREE. This romantic comedy features X-Men: The Last Stand’s Ken Leung and Heroes’s cheerleader Hayden Panettiere in the lead roles along with X2’s Kelly Hu. Here’s a synopsis of the film:

28-year-old Liam (Leung) is an aspiring Hollywood star who spends the majority of time picking up bar girls with his best friend Joe — a starving writer who has yet to pen a proper screenplay. While Liam does share an innocent relationship with precocious 16-year-old Adelaide (Panettiere), she often comes off as more mature than he and the age difference between the pair is far too glaring to ignore. Upon receiving notice that he has inherited his grandmother’s home in Shanghai, Liam throws caution to the wind and purchases an airplane ticket. He takes an eye opening journey to Shanghai. Shortly after landing in China, Liam becomes smitten with beautiful local Micky (Kelly Hu) and gradually learns to embrace his Asian roots. But it’s difficult to exist comfortably between two cultures — much less two women — and before long Liam finds that in connecting with the past, he is simultaneously laying the groundwork for his future.

You can also get the movie on amazon. Also see these other films on Hulu including White on Rice and Long Life, Happiness and Prosperity.
