Lovely to Me website

A few years ago rapper Taiyo Na and director Gary San Angel released the music video “Lovely to Me (Immigrant Mother)“. channelAPA.com got a special note from director Gary San Angel:

Thanks for your piece on Lovely to Me (Immigrant Mother). Because of your article it had inspired me to create a home for the films as well as a living gallery to honor all moms.

We are soft launching it today for this Mothers Day weekend. There’s the family photo that you have that pays homage to the film and we would love to have you share that or any other mom photos on the site.

Share a digital picture of your “Mom” on the site here. The photo can be your mom, grand mom, aunty, or that special someone who helped raise you and make you who you are today.

It’s interesting to see how this song has progressed to a music video, then a short film, and now a website.

I Wonder by GOWE x Erin Kim

Gowe (aka Gifted on West East) and Erin Kim collaborated on the song “I Wonder”. There’s a special place in the Gowe’s heart for his biological mother. Here’s more from Gowe on the track:

Ever since I discovered that I was adopted (at the age of 18), I’ve always wanted to write a song that captured my experience and gratitude toward my biological mother.

After performing this song for the first time at Kollaboration Seattle I was able to partner with key individuals to turn the song into a music video.

My hope is that this will one day reach my biological mother so that I could meet her. In a way, I feel like this is symbolically my ‘message in a bottle’ that I am casting into the ocean. Any help in sharing the video with your friends & family would be amazing.

Thank you to everyone who was involved in the making of this video, God is good and I am truly blessed!

A World Without Moms by Jubilee Project

In time for Mother’s Day, The Jubilee Project releases a video called “A World Without Moms” to support maternal health and help save the lives of moms around the world. Inspired by our desire to help moms because of the love and care we received from our own moms, The Jubilee Project is partnering with Every Mother Counts, an organization dedicated to improving maternal health and founded by women’s health advocate, filmmaker and model, Christy Turlington Burns.

Every year, 7 million women are injured and 350,000 women die due to complications related to childbirth. These deaths, though, can be prevented by providing basic medical care. The challenge is making this problem and solution known. Their hope is that the video can inspire, empower and enable others to take action and help moms everywhere have access to good medical care.

For Mother’s Day, please help them spread this important message and let us together celebrate and love the moms in this world. For every view this video gets in the month of May, sponsors will donate a penny to Every Mother Counts in order to support maternal health advocacy efforts worldwide. How this fundraiser works is that if you would like to support the cause financially, you can sign up to become a sponsor of the video. Each sponsor will pledge to donate 1 penny (or more) for each view the video receives in the month of May. So if the video receives 10,000 views by the end of the month, each sponsor will donate $100. The sponsor can also choose to cap the amount they donate. You can sign up to sponsor the video at any time in May by emailing project.jubilee@gmail.com.

Timothy DelaGhetto got together with some of his friends to shoot a parody of The Lazy Song by Bruno Mars called “The Horny Song”. Clearly from the title of the song, it’s not safe for work. Like the original music video, Timothy DelaGhetto has backup monkey dancers, which are comprised of Victor Kim, Ricky Shucks, PeedeeFlo, and Eric “SuperEgo” Ochola . Andrew Garcia also makes a cameo.
