For the 2011 Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival, a short called “EASTER BUNNY” was adapted from the feature film script YEAR OF THE BUNNY. Usually shorts are adapted into features, but the director wanted to do things differently. In an effort to garner attention for the feature script (which is based in Hong Kong), he wrote a piece with similar tone, emotion and humor based in Los Angeles hitting places like the LA Metro, MacArthur Park and downtown LA. Here’s more on Easter Bunny:

EASTER BUNNY is about Franklin, a heart broken man who taked a day trip into LA with his stuffed animal Bunny. When he loses his longtime friend, he gets help from a pair of Hispanic Angelinos in the search for Bunny. From MacArthur Park to K-Town to Pershing Square, Franklin searches LA discouraged and hopeless. WIll he get precious Bunny back?

Lyrics to Fly Higher by City Boy

[Hook]
Never let it go, never let it leave
Living in a dream thats hard to reach
Gotta fly higher, nothing can hold you back
Never let it go, never let it leave
Living in a dream thats hard to reach
Gotta fly higher, nothing can hold you back

[Verse / City Boy]
Nothing could a hold a nigga down if he ain’t never knew
Or realizin’ thats all he has, what he’ll forever do
So what the message is?
Cus if a nigga had a loss knew a nigga w/ a better win, its evident
My balance all fucked up.. the fame was nothing but
Cus ain’t nobody tried to hold me down when I was coming up
I’m right at you, Twitter ain’t gotta mention who
But I’m old school, and thats something that you ain’t never knew
I couldn’t have it in the worst way
And karma is a bitch but she let me hit it on the first date
And anybody that don’t know how its hurts say
The same ol thang and laugh it off in the world face
These dudes talkin’ about it like every verse was fly
And most these so called killas would never hurt a fly
Cus if I never had any fan, I wouldn’t ask y’all
But it ain’t nothin’ if I ain’t never had y’all… dog…

[Hook]
Never let it go, never let it leave
Living in a dream thats hard to reach
Gotta fly higher, nothing can hold you back
Never let it go, never let it leave
Living in a dream thats hard to reach
Gotta fly higher, nothing can hold you back

[Verse / City Boy]
Nothing could a hold nigga down cus I’ve been better wise
My alter ego’s having hard times to recognize
Cus who I am now don’t look familar
I got that kinda face a nigga wanna look and kill ya
I’ve been imprisoned on my own but I ain’t comin’ out
Pain killers wasn’t runnin’ out and that something bout
So I’ma give it a shot
Like Inception, I don’t know if I’m living in it or not
The dreams I have are reconcile, and I’ve been wrecked a while
Its been a minute, hopin’ that I ain’t forget to smile
Been plenty times, I’ve been alone sititn’ upset and down
I’d rather be on my own, ain’t gotta mention how
See real niggas ain’t as real to me
Cus if you want a real nigga, come and deal w/ me, see
To dedicate a second wait when I was cryin’ to sleep
You may be fly, But try flyin’ higher than me… see

[Hook]
Never let it go, never let it leave
Living in a dream thats hard to reach
Gotta fly higher, nothing can hold you back
Never let it go, never let it leave
Living in a dream thats hard to reach
Gotta fly higher, nothing can hold you back
