Selfish by Dumbfoundead

Selfish by Dumbfoundead

Rapper dumbfoundead sings a tale of a broken relationship in his song “Selfish”. Using the instrumentals from Miguel’s Sure Thing, he raps about the psychology of a break up as he reflects on being a selfish man. Is it better to have true love or a relationship of convenience? Is it better to get to really know someone or keeping it superficial.

Look for dumbfoundead’s new album soon.

Lyrics to Selfish by Dumbfoundead

Its 1 am on a Wednesday and I swear im with the baddest chick,
its been months and she aint question what are status is,
I know her g spot, but I don’t really know her,
and she don’t really know me, except I like it slower,

I drink nightly till my vision is a blur,
party till it hurts, now my card is in her purse,
wake up to something that only started with a flirt,
been down this road before, you swear my car was in reverse,

before this girl it was her, and with her I was sure,
till I learned there was no such thing,
now I find myself messin with girls with low self esteem,
heres the person that you painted me to be,

a selfish man, im a selfish man, this song was about you,
now its about me, livin without you, aint hard as I thought it be,

a sefish man, im a selfish man, girl you were good, the new one is better,
she fell for it all, all the bullsh*t I fed her,

the rules I don’t need em, a fool for this freedom,
gave up what I had, true love for convenience,
let it go let it go let it go girl let it go let it go let it go girl

all the problems you had with me go and air it out,
those are problems that this new girl don’t care about,
ya we keep everything on the surface,
ignorance is bliss, and this is damn near perfect,
I needed part time love, wasn’t fit for a career,
call my dark side up, and tell her to bring a blunt, it feels better when we f*ck,
I get mine, she gets hers there will never be an us, im

a selfish man, a selfish man, this song was about you now its about me,
livin without you, aint hard as I thought it be,

a sefish man, im a selfish man, girl you were good, the new one is better,
she fell for it all, all the bullsh*t I fed her,

the rules I don’t need em, a fool for the freedom,
gave up what I had, true love for convenience,
let it go let it go let it go girl let it go let it go let it go girl

I sleep around like im trynna get revenge, hoping that you’ll hurt, but you don’t even flinch,
seen you with your new mans im glad you found your prince, I know his kind I smell the stench,

Of a selfish man, a selfish man, this song was about you now its about me,
livin without you, aint hard as I thought it be,

a sefish man, im a selfish man, girl you were good, the new one is better,
she fell for it all, all the bullsh*t I fed her,

Chinglish play by David Henry Hwang

Chinglish play by David Henry Hwang

If you’re out in Chicago, check out Tony Award winner and Pultizer Prize finalist David Henry Hwang’s latest play “Chinglish”. From the award-winning author of M. Butterfly, Chinglish is an uproarious new comedy about the challenges of doing business in a culture whose language—and ways of communicating—are worlds apart from our own. Here’s more about the play:

A Midwestern American businessman (Daniel) who’s desperately looking to score a lucrative contact for his family’s sign-making firm travels to China only to learn how much he doesn’t understand: his translators are unreliable, his consultant may be a fraud, and he is captivated by Xu, the beautiful, seemingly supportive government official who talks the talk—but what is she saying, anyway? From the acclaimed author of M. Butterfly. See it now before it heads to New York!

Chinglish runs approximately two hours, with one 15-minute intermission. This play grew out of the personal experiences Hwang had in China . The cast includes Jennifer Lim, Angela Lin, Christine Lin, Johnny Wu, Larry Zhang, Stephen Pucci, and James Waterson. On Wednesday and Thursday evenings, stay after the performance for a post-show discussion with members of the Goodman’s artistic staff and the cast. BTW – the play is in Chinglish (Mandarin Chinese and English). Don’t worry if you don’t understand Mandarin, the play is supertitled. Chinglish runs through July 24, 2011 in Chicago.

You’ve heard Harvard grad Jeremy Lin’s story to the NBA. Now there’s a documentary about a female Harvard basketball player Emily Tay called “No Look Pass.” Here’s more about the film:

No Look Pass is the coming-of-age American Dream story of Emily ‘Etay’ Tay, a first generation Burmese immigrant from Chinatown, Los Angeles. Despite the fact that girls don’t play sports in the Burmese tradition, Etay miraculously becomes a nationally-ranked basketball star at Harvard University thanks to her patented move, the no look pass. But Emily is caught between two worlds and feels tormented by her double life. She strives to play professionally in Germany but her dreams are no slam dunk — sexuality, family, race, and Don’t Ask Don’t Tell conspire against her, firing her passions on and off the court.

Three years, 300 hours of footage, thousands of miles (to Los Angeles, Cambridge, & Germany), and countless friends’ couches later…No Look Pass is inches away from completion and has been accepted to its world premiere film festival this summer. The people behind the film are looking for funds to finish the film and submit it to film festivals. Learn more about supporting the film here.
