Way Home directed by Erick Oh

Way Home directed by Erick Oh

Director Erick Oh created the animated short film “Way Home”. It’s a story featuring a fly, a dung beetle, and a farmer. Through a tragic episode that is also filled with humor and brightness, he gives viewers an opportunity to think about what they are chasing after and what is truly precious in life.

When considering the theme of the film, some would perceive a fate that no one can alter, or a natural cycle of life. Others would simply experience the nothingness at life’s end. Regardless of which notion would weigh heavier on their minds, it would all narrow down to a question about ‘life’ after all.

Lyrics to Masquerade by Jasmine V

(Verse 1)
I’d like to take this time, just to apologize,
The way you see me now, and what I am inside,
Really your character, there wasn’t in it for us,
I tried to keep it up.

(Hook 1)
When I looked in your eyes, tonight,
I saw your heart crystal clear,
And when you look back in mine,
The truth seemed to disappear.

(Chorus)
Because it was all, it was all,
It was all a masquerade,
Because it was all, it was all,
It was all a masquerade,
masquerade x8

(Verse 2)
I said “I loved you” first,
Well “love” is just a word,
Said it so many times,
That it became a blur,
You’re not the only one,
I’m sure that hearing it hurts,
All of the pain you had,
I’m the worst.

(Hook 2)
And in your eyes tonight,
I saw your heart crystal clear,
And when you looked back in mine,
All the lies re-appeared.

(Chorus)
Because it was all, it was all,
It was all a masquerade,
Because it was all, it was all,
It was all a masquerade,
masquerade x8

(Bridge)
Now I can’t believe you’re telling me,
That you can move on easily,
I thought you really cared for me,
I was wrong, I was wrong,
I should’ve known my thorn was bitter sweet,
And saw the possibilites of me playing you, while playing me,
I was wrong, I was wrong,

So I guess it was all, it was all,
It was all a masquerade.

I guess it was all, it was all,
It was all a masquerade.

You Know What I Mean directed by Luu Brothers

You Know What I Mean directed by Luu Brothers

People behind the camera don’t always get showcased like directors. The Luu Brothers directed a fan-made music video for the song “You Know What I Mean” by the Cults. This is their most ambitious production to date. They even raised money to make this project happen. For the music video, the Luu Brothers give it a cinematic effect. The concept follows the love between 2 characters through 3 important dances in their life. From their first meeting when they were children to years later as adults, our goal is to tell a story that has heart and is relatable for the audience.
