Buying Back the Bombs: a peaceBOMB documentary

Witness the story of peaceBOMB: bracelets made from Vietnam War bombs. Learn about the Laotian artisans who make them and take action. Just by wearing a peaceBOMB bracelet you support artisan livelihoods, raise awareness about the ‘Secret War’ in Laos during Vietnam and the efforts of NGOs advocating to ban the use of cluster munitions. For nine years, the US dropped 2 million tons of ordnance, averaging one B-52 bomb load every 8 minutes, 24/7, making Laos the most heavily bombed country in the world.

Project peaceBOMB combines human ingenuity and Vietnam War era bomb and other aluminum scrap to create bracelets that tell a story about their makers and the legacies of our shared history. It is about the resourcefulness and positive approach these villagers have taken since the ’70s, upcycling war remnants into spoons for their local market, and now… peaceBOMB bracelets for the world.

Each peaceBOMB purchase funds artisans, village development, clearance of bombs from farmland, and raises awareness of war legacies and the need to ban cluster bombs which injure and kill civilians long after war’s end.
