Beatrock Music 2nd Anniversary party in SF

Beatrock Music 2nd Anniversary party in SF
The San Francisco Bay Area love is strong with the Beatrock Music family. Marin native Eric “Fatgums” Strand, will celebrate with the rest of the Beatrock Music family in the Mission on Saturday, December 17, 2011. The event is open to the public and will celebrate the 2nd Anniversary of Beatrock Music, an independent record label founded by Strand. Beatrock Music celebrates indie Hip Hop creators, many of whom are from the Bay area; championing their political & cultural voice in the underground.

Since the label’s launch in January 2009, headed by founder Eric Strand, the creative journey for each of these artists has kept their ear to the street; coming through with melodies and beats that galvanize a generation. “We are a collective of musicians who create works for more than music’s sake alone” says Strand. “Each artist has a unique perspective, yet there is a common thread of community activism shared by all of us. Our sound and content is honest and for the people.”

Recording artist Bambu hopes that albums on Beatrock Music prompt community action. He says that “Beatrock Music is reflective of the work we put into our music and our accountability to how that music is received. We are all very aware that our music is out there to hopefully inspire & activate folks to attain the social change we need.”

For the 2 year celebration, the love for art & will extend to the visual realm; as the event will premiere a special Beatrock Music art exhibit courtesy of photographer Leo Docuyanan. Docuyanan’s name is already on the radar of many; especially known for his portraits of Bay Area Hip Hop icons. “I was already familiar with his portraits” says Strand, “When Leo first brought up the idea of a collaboration, I was honored that he saw a natural connection between his work and our artists. We are very excited to team up with him.”

Each Beatrock Music artist sat with Docuyanan, shooting their portrait for the exhibit. “Everyone in the Beatrock family has their own individual identity and musical aesthetic” says Docuyanan. Guests will be able to see the visual personalities of each artist, and also see what connects them as musical collective. Docuyanan notes “The sound of the label aims celebrate that golden era of Hip Hop, combined with each artist’s independent and quality driven styles. The music is organic and free-flowing. I’m glad it has been embraced by all walks of life.”

Music fans will be treated to performances from label artists, including: Bwan, Otayo Dubb, Kiwi and Rocky Rivera. The excitement is also building around a special performance from Bambu with Seattle based artist, Prometheus Brown of Blue Scholars. The two just completed a national tour, and have previously collaborated on WALK INTO A BAR, released earlier this year. Bambu hope this will be a night that fans will not soon forget. “They can expect ProBrown and I to wild-the-F-out! Ha!”

#GMVTILLINFINITY by Gentleman’s Vibe (contains explicit lyrics)

Lyrics to #GMVTILLINFINITY by Gentleman’s Vibe

VERSE 1 – NEAL

They say I look happier like fame is the easy way
you can really hide your feelings now a days
halfway friendships, its hard to keep in touch
when youre living in a world where every single day’s a Friday

but, but now my hearts in the right place
so I lay back close my eyes and just visualize it
the vision planned could have a slight change
prepared for the worst so the failure I can minimize

hittin road blocks, dead ends but fuck it
my teams working hard around this zero dollar budget
GMV till infinity, the fans all love it
all these lists stacked up but im just living through the bucket

see me smiling through these silhouettes
have you ever met a fucking duo that’s a triple threat?
past basic, primetime entertainment
but some are still jealous so fouls are all flagrant

never phasing, model dames chasing
dreams are destined to take you to different places
with a one way ticket
they calling this a game but what im doing aint a gimmick

CHORUS –

Cause we stand tall, view the city as we wait
Till the lights fall dim, no one can take the chase away
Can’t recall how this happened
This road made us so driven
We know we got a long ways to go
but it’s GMV till infinity

VERSE 2 – JUSTIN

People wish they had a time machine,
but you know what I kinda don’t
cause I know nothing comes close to a perfect dream
But bits and pieces of it came from the mistakes I wrote

It took time and we admit this isn’t perfect
We’re trying to dig deeper, aint satisfied with the surface
So we’ll suit up, give no fucks, ego stays behind us
our music is one thing, recognition was a bonus

But we deserve it, yeah I said it we deserve it
hope u heard it, cause the height we plan to reach won’t have no service
But you should all expect a call and if not, you know what happened
That just means, we forgave but never forgotten

And that’s me being blunt
Used to be back in the end, now we ended up in the front
Wrote our scripts, shot our own scenes
And best believe gentlemen do their own stunts

risk it while we jump, I’m never switching to reverse
Constantly running, bottling up my music for the thirst
Never scared to move forward, down to teach and learn lessons
Though we’re growing by the “second”, soon enough we’ll finish “first”

CHORUS –

Cause we stand tall, view the city as we wait
Till the lights fall dim, no one can take the chase away
Can’t recall how this happened
This road made us so driven
We know we got a long ways to go
but it’s GMV till infinity

BRIDGE –

We got our hands out, no doubts
reachin’ out, trying make it world wide
we made our own route, found our own sound
now we be up all night

Just chasing and chasing
So times not wasted, not wasted
We plan to go places, yeah places
We’ve never been before

CHORUS x2 –

Cause we stand tall, view the city as we wait
Till the lights fall dim, no one can take the chase away
Can’t recall how this happened
This road made us so driven
We know we got a long ways to go
but it’s GMV till infinity

OUTRO –

Just chasing and chasing
So times not wasted, not wasted
We plan to go places, yeah places
We’ve never been before

Have It All by J. Reyez (contains profanity)

Lyrics to Have It All by J. Reyez

(chorus)
put that dress on, put them high heels on
in front of me is a beautiful girl
I see you in my view, the feeling’s so true
another lost love when I travel the world
I wanna f*cking have it all, I wanna have it all
every single moment that I share with you
I wanna f*cking have it all, I wanna have it all
the money and the fame don’t compare to you

(verse 1)
reach the afterparty, taking a couple drinks
getting a ‘lil faded, but still enough to think
and I’m just having a ‘lil too much fun to focus
beautiful women here but only one I notice
it seems she doesn’t really have her make up overdone
different from the rest of the girls in the club
I see her looking at me, walking in my direction
my flights tomorrow morning but I feel a connection
we start conversing and she can understand me
that I’m just a person, not someone with a Grammy
but that don’t mean I won’t accomplish that in the future
and that don’t mean I won’t make you mine even sooner
it’s kinda hard when we got the world in between us
but I’ll be back again, I’m set with my traveling visa
why do I fall for your type, I’m floating on ice
we got this one night, lets share this moment for life

(verse 2)
yup we throwing a party, women around the booth
women around the booth, but you know I’m down with you
you sippin’ OJ and vodka, we poppin’ champagne
them dudes in the back looking thirsty, it’s a damn shame
it’s just me and you, don’t care about what they assume
people will talk, no matter what with every single move
lets get up outta here, far away from the public
and after we’re done, you’re gonna say that you loved it
and we hear a knock, the dinner’s at the door
you’re getting comfortable, we finish after four
I was a little nervous, you didn’t notice yet?
we both living a crazy life with no regrets
I want this moment to be longer but it grows apart
I knew this love wouldn’t last even from the start
but I’ll be back again, I’ll see you another day
let this one run away
