I saw a girl with her friend at the bar who looked like they were expecting someone to meet them. A couple minutes after noticing them, I saw this guy who was acted like he owned the place, who apparently who was who the girl was meeting. She gets up all excited, hugs him, they have a bunch of drinks, and by the end of the night, the girl is totally getting ignored by this super obnoxious douchebag because he really wants to go out with her friend, but the girl absolutely didn’t care and was eating up any second of attention she was getting. So I decided to write this song and dedicate it to all the girls who ask themselves, “Why do I fall for the a-holes all the time?”
In short, guys are douchebags because they can see from examples that it’s effective. Girls, a lot of the time, don’t see what is in front of them. So with that in mind, I am singing from another guy’s perspective who actually would be serious about the girl, but she doesn’t see him, so to make himself known, he should be a douchebag.
The Blue Scholars dropped the music video for “Seijun Suzuki” off their Cinemetropolis album. The cinematic style of the video is like watch a trailer for a movie with guys in suits carrying samurai swords. It’s a video filmmaker Seijun Suzuki would be proud of. Here’s more about the video from Blue Scholars:
This video was filmed in Los Angeles on October 15 and 16 during the Southern California leg of the Cinemetropolis tour. We had been talking with our guy Jon Jon Augustavo for over a year about collaborating on a music video sometime before he finishes film school and blows the f up. I had become a fan of his prolific and experimental work with Seattle rappers and impressed with the quick turnaround on his projects that still never seemed rushed when you saw the final product. I like that he refuses to call music videos “visuals.” We thought that Seijun Suzuki, the most “random” of the Cinemetropolis songs, would fit the improvised production style and clean shots of a Jon Jon video. Like a trailer for a movie that doesn’t exist. We bounced around many ideas that all eventually morphed into “let’s wear some suits, get some guns and see what happens.” You ever seen a Seijun Suzuki flick? I swear that’s how he made his films too. But wielding guns around L.A. didn’t seem like a good idea. So we used the homie and tour manager C-Knowledge’s samurai swords instead. Timing was perfect w/ The Physics on this leg of the tour with us, which meant that we could get Thig’s hook cameo and then all rock out at the show afterward. So everybody in L.A., that’s the real reason why we were wearing suits that night and that night only of the entire tour. Enjoy the video.
Everybody wanna try it but nobody wanna do it
And ain’t nobody winnin’ everybody scared of losin’
Until somebody prove it, the mood is kind of foolish
To say that you can do it, just being good at music
The tool’s just a tool, gotta learn how you use it
And if you ain’t buildin’ let somebody else do it
Cuz creatives wanna move it, consumers wanna buy it
The day that we decided to make it like Jake and Vita
We choosin’ to multiply it, them other tryin’ to divide it
My mother smelled of flowers, my father’s made of iron
Descendant from a king of a jungle and I ain’t lion/lyin’
Said it’s dead on an island, it’s lost and I’ma find it
Singing the same song like Brian was drivin’
I’m getting daps like I am defying whenever writin’ enlightenment
Babylon turned into Zion in spite of it
And you debate and then defining it
It’s masturbation at best, try rhyming and test your own standards
I’m posing for no cameras, unless you got manners
And I ain’t even looking but that woman got that black magic like Santana’s
Got hella fam in the bay, like Dan Tanner
Since ‘Pac rocked a black bandana but done backwards
Now 48 hours from Hawaii to Atlanta with a show in the middle, back home in Seattle
Oh they gettin’ rattled, no don’t wanna do it
Cuz ain’t nobody winnin’ everybody scared of losin’
Until somebody prove it, the mood is kind of foolish
To say that you could do it, just being good at music
Aye, we do this everyday
Spittin’ writtens for a livin’
‘Til there’s nothin’ left to say
Aye, from the boroughs down to the bay
You suckas played them back
Y’all just in my people way
Aye, we do this like everyday
Spittin’ writtens ’til there’s nothin’ left to say
Aye, from the town down to L.A.
Makin’ that music that the people wanna play
Why ask for permission when you know you can’t have it
Not until my name done travel the damn planet, damn it
Panic, I’m planning my last album and handin’ ’em out back
You ballin’ without stacks, we callin’ you out jack
You follow with no catch and all in a days work
Follow the same path, he’s hoppin’ the late train
Coppin’ the same things, no passion, burnin’
Fighting without fighting, got in my mind training
To model the Mike Tyson, my motto is stop bitin’
You follow the pied piper, puff puff pass not talking Wiz Khalifa
Knuckle up fast, cuz trouble will come fast
To topical rhyme writing from tropical white lightning
I weather a typhoon, people are so vital
while bodies floating by in a high tide water
High noon fly by like Guerilla Moonsoon
Don’t stop til your roof top turn into an island
Learn how to suffer while smilin’
The lights go silent as write more ballads
And I’m seeing non violence get a little less valid, challenge
Now what bro, nobody don’t wanna do it
And ain’t nobody winnin’ everybody scared of losin’
Until somebody prove it, the people wanna…
…to say something… yeah…
Aye, we do this everyday
Spittin’ writtens for a livin’
‘Til there’s nothin’ left to say
Aye, from the boroughs down to the bay
You suckas played them back
Y’all just in my people way
Aye, we do this like everyday
Spittin’ writtens ’til there’s nothin’ left to say
Aye, from the town down to L.A.
You know we got hella class like a bidet
The President and First Lady send their best wishes to everyone celebrating the Lunar New Year. For the holiday, President Obama recorded a message sending his best wishes to all those celebrating the Lunar New Year, both in the United States and around the world. Here’s his message:
Michelle and I want to send our best wishes to everyone celebrating the Lunar New Year, including Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders.
Growing up in Hawaii, I remember all the excitement surrounding the Lunar New Year – from the parades and the fireworks to the smaller gatherings with family and friends. It has always been a time for celebration and hope. And this year, as Americans here at home and around the world welcome the Year of the Dragon, it’s important to remember that our country is stronger because of our diversity. We are richer because of the different cultures that make up this country.
So to all those celebrating the Lunar New Year, I wish you and your loved ones peace, prosperity, and good health.

Beverage manufacturer Tiger Beer released a video featuring dancing tigers (dancing lions modified with tiger heads). In the video, a traditional “lion” dance breaks into shuffling tiger. The pair of tiger breakout to LMFAO’s Party Rock anthem. Nothing like kick offing the new year to shuffling tigers. Happy Chinese New Year!!!
Malaysian oil and gas company Petronas put out a touching commercial for Chinese New Year last year. It’s an emotional reminder to connect with our parents. Although things seem bad at times, a call or a visit can put a smile on a parent’s face. Watching this gave us flashbacks to the Home:Word music video with overtures of Google Chrome Commercial: Dear Sophie and Graduation – Google Search Stories.
