Help get Viennie V on the radio

Singer Viennie V is about to get radio play for her song “For You“. (Several of her tracks including For You, Thinking of You and Nightmare or Dream have gotten visibility online through her music videos.) Her latest single, “For You,” will be playing on Grand Forks, North Dakota’s #1 hit music station KKXL today (January 26, 2012) 6pm PST/ 8PM CST. This radio station is owned by media conglomerate Clear Channel, which owns a majority of the most popular radio stations in the US (like LA’s 102.7 KIIS FM and San Francisco’s Wild 94.9 & 106KMEL). So if “For You” is successful on KKXL, it stands a good chance of being played on the bigger radio stations! She’s looking for your help and support to get more radio play.

Let’s show the mainstream media that we want to hear more Asian Americans on the radio.

Here’s a personal message from Viennie V:

“First of all, I would like to say thank you so much to ChannelAPA for being the first Asian American media outlet to take notice of me and help me out. You guys have been so supportive and just great!

So as you might know, I have a single called “For You” that just hit some radio stations and pretty soon, “For You” will air on KKXL for the first time. This is a very crucial moment because this radio station is part of Clear Channel which pretty much owns all the major radio stations like LA’s 102.7 KIIS FM!

I started singing because it is something I simply have a passion for, but with the recent developments concerning “For You,” I have come to realize the potential that this song could have that is even greater than me. It’s no secret that Asian American singers have it tough in the US music industry. I am really proud of “For You” and I think it has the potential to break into the top radio markets but wishing and hoping won’t get me anywhere so that’s why I need you. Every vote counts and with competition from pop stars like Rihanna and Katy Perry, I could really use all the help and support I can get!

Thank you everyone!”

Here’s how you can help:
When “For You” plays, please give the track a 5 star rating. Just go here and find the box in the image below and vote. Remember every vote counts. You do not need to fill out any forms or provide any personal information.

Home is Where the Hans Are trailer by Wong Fu Productions

Wong Fu Productions is set to released a new webseries this year called “Home is Where the Hans Are”. They released a trailer that reveals the story line for the series. Here’s more about it:

Derek has been away from home for 2 years, distancing himself from his mother and life back home. But in the end, his dreams have gotten him nowhere and he reluctantly decides to return home. To his surprise though, his new step-dad and family are not what he expected, and this new life might just be what he needs most.

*Our goal with this series is to show a general audience who might not be used to seeing Asians as a typical TV family, that seeing our faces in these roles should not be strange. We have a place among everyone else and we can all get along and make great content. We’re excited to be working with FremantleMedia who sees the potential for Asian Americans in the mainstream media. We hope you can share and support this new project.

You can see a little behind the scenes footage in Wong Fu Weekends Episode 65. Among the people in the cast will be Randall Park (Too Fast), Ellen Wong, Major Curda, Jamie Nocher and Julie Lancaster. Look for the 4 part series coming in February.
