Home is Where the Hans Are Episode 1 by Wong Fu Productions

Home is Where the Hans Are Episode 1 by Wong Fu Productions

Wong Fu Productions unveiled their latest project “Home is Where the Hans Are“. In the first episode, we get introduced to the characters and the background story. The cast includes Jamie Nocher, Ellen Wong, Major Cuda, Julie Lancaster, Randall Park (Too Fast), and Emmanuel Borria. Here’s more on the pilot:

Derek has been away from home for 2 years, distancing himself from his mother and life back home. But in the end, his dreams have gotten him nowhere and he reluctantly decides to return home. To his surprise though, his new step-dad and family are not what he expected, and this new life might just be what he needs most.

This project isn’t only for the web, it’s a test TV pilot project for Fremantle. Here’s more from Wong Production on the goal of the project:

Our goal with this series is to show a general audience who might not be used to seeing Asians as a typical TV family, that seeing our faces in these roles should not be strange. We have a place among everyone else and we can all get along and make great content.

If the series goes well, you just might see a Wong Fu produced TV show in a few years. Here’s more on their thoughts of the potential for TV:

If it (Home is Where the Hans Are) did well, they (Fremantle) might be able to show networks its success and try to pitch them to turn it into a real television show. With this in mind, we set to come up with ideas with the destination of TV in mind, not just YouTube. The idea of HANS was among a few that we pitched them, but the concept came about because we thought, why has there not been a show on tv with an Asian family? There are African Americans, Hispanics, why not Asian? Without getting into the politics, we decided to create a story that melded the two cultures, in an effort to make seeing Asians in not such a strange light as the general TV audience might see it. Fremantle liked the idea and wanted us to go with it. They agreed with us that an Asian American cast has a place on television and wanted to support it.

Stay tuned for more episodes in February.

Lyrics to Let This Die by Brian Joo x Flowsik of Aziatix

Why are you callin’
(Why are you callin’)
There’s nobody home
Who’ever you chasin’
Is already gone
Don’t write him a letter
‘Cuz it won’t be read
And don’t say a word
It’s already been said
Yea, it’s too late now

(Chorus)
I know how hard you’ve tried
Tryin’ to keep this alive
But you can’t do it anymore
You gotta let it go
So I think it’s time
To let this die

Put down your armor
There’s no need to fight
You’re making it harder
The harder you try
And you can’t control this
So put it to rest
Stop playin’ it over
Like a song in your head
Yeah, and it’s too late now

(Chorus)
I know how hard you’ve tried
Tryin’ to keep this alive
But you can’t do it anymore
You gotta let it go
So I think it’s time
To let this die

I can’t bear to watch you leave
You know in your heart that he’s not the one you need
I’ll show you how it’s meant to be
So just close your eyes take my hand and come with me yeah
Come with me yeah OH!

Rap (Flowsik of Aziatix)
Flowsik,
Show your love,
We work so hard to move on,
I don’t know about you but,
Too late too long,
No it’s time to move on,
Whole night never knew my own,
So we gotta hit the beach,
Four wheels with the roof gone,
Hey and we can take over,
put down your hand and hold mine it’s not a game over
You’re man dragging you down,
Are you sure you’re with each other,
Remedies and replacing with diamonds like I’m supposed to,
I just want to ride,
Makes you wild,
get close with you,
You hold hands,
Raise them and praise god with you,
Rick Ross Floss want to be a boss with you,
But you don’t know,
Know my love is gone get you,

Next time,
There’s only two stars,
That shine in this room and uh,
So before you make another call,
Let me see you this one more time,

Cause I know how hard you’ve tried
Tryin’ to keep this alive
But you can’t do it anymore
You gotta let it go
So I think it’s time
To let this die
To let this die (x4)
(Let go, let go)
Put it to rest now
(Let go, let go)
All you gotta do is

Girls' Generation performs The Boys on David Letterman

K-pop group Girls’ Generation took another major step in breaking to the mainstream US market last night. They performed their song The Boys on The Late Show with David Letterman in front of a nationwide late night audience. It was their first network TV debut. Not only was David Letterman mesmerized by their performance, but guests Regis Philbin and Bill Murray were also in awe. Watch Kim Taeyeon, Jessica Jung, Sunny, Tiffany, Kim Hyoyeon, Kwon Yuri, Choi Sooyoung, Im Yoona and Seohyun strut their stuff on stage.

Outside the Late Show Studios, Girls’ Generation parked their tour bus and were mobbed by fans. (How’s that for a US welcome?)

Girls Generation isn’t the only all female K-pop group making a splash in the US. Tomorrow, the Wonder Girls will have a special on Teen Nick featuring the song “The DJ is Mine“.
