The Crumbles is an indie rock slice-of life tragicomedy about Darla (Katie Hipol), an overly serious musician whose stagnant life is shaken up when her long lost best friend Elisa (Teresa Michelle Lee) shows up and crashes on her couch… indefinitely. Free-spirited Elisa has just moved back to Los Angeles after a devastating break-up, and no one else in their funky group of friends is willing to help her out. She is charming and musically gifted, making her the perfect partner in the band that Darla has long wanted to start up. But when the band gets rolling, insecurity, heartache, and oversized egos all work against them. While they both share dreams of rocking the globe, it becomes a monumental struggle just getting out of the garage. But despite all the setbacks, dashed hopes, and unrealized dreams, the Crumbles do what needs to be done … and keep on rocking.

More about The Crumbles
The Crumbles was inspired by the real-life experience of playing in a garage band—and the ego battles, minor successes, unfulfilled dreams, and life lessons that went along with it. The film was completed on a shoestring budget with the help of many smart and talented friends and UCLA film school classmates. It was shot by James Yuan using a Canon Rebel T2i fitted with Nikon lenses from the 1980s, and edited on an iMac in a garage in Eagle Rock. The music was composed and performed by Quetzal Flores with assistance from his musician friends. Long live rock ‘n’ roll!
LINsanity may have cooled off, but that doesn’t mean Jeremy Lin‘s fans have cooled off. The crew behind Number 1 created a fake trailer for Jeremy Lin the Movie. It’s not autobiographical, but entertaining nonetheless. Here’s more about the “film”:
Before his rise to stardom, Jeremy Lin goes to Queens, NY to meet with his brother, Josh. Together, they hustled the basketball courts to raise money for Jeremy’s college tuition, until, they hustled the wrong people…
It’s hard to believe that 10 years have passed since Jin the emcee made his run on Freestyle Friday on 106 & Park. In his recent blog post, Jin reflects on the seven weeks that would ultimately change my life. For his audition, he recounts:
I remember walking from the 6 train to the BET studio and as I approached the block that it was on all I saw was a sea of rappers. I’m thinking at least 20-30 from each borough. 20-30 multiplied by 5.. you do the math. Aside from the rappers themselves, most of them also had their crews and neighborhood block associates with them.
He was an army of one among his fellow competitors. Three weeks after his audition, he got the callback to be a challenger on the show. Jin breaks down each week with the backstory, overview, key lines, and final thoughts on each battle. Relive each battle with Jin.
Week 1: Hasan
Week 2: Sterling
Week 3: Skitzoe
Week 4: Skyzoo
Week 5: Lucky Luciano
Week 6: Logan

Immediately after winning his sevebth and final time on the show, he announced on stage that he had just signed with Ruff Ryders. And the rest is history. Check out Jin’s recap to commemorate the occasion. You can download his commemorative track FREE here.
After Tonight (Freestyle Friday 10 Year Anniversary with Jin)
Sisters Lisa & Laura Ling collaborate on the #savemyfriend PSA. In February 2012, 30 North Korean refugees were arrested in China and the government plans to forcibly send them back to North Korea where they will face harsh punishment or death. This case is important because it is the first arrest of North Korean refugees in China after Kim Jung-il’s death. Kim Jung-un, the son of Kim Jung-il and North Koreas’s current leader, declared that refugees who flee North Korea during the 100-day mourning period of his father’s death would be annihilated along with their families. Thirty have been caught, but many more lives are at risk — North Koreans that are caught trying to defect are faced with the cruelest death sentence, often preceded by a long process of torture or excruciating labor. This is because the North Korean government perceives defectors as the number one threat to their authority.
If the international community, especially China, doesn’t take a strong stance on saving North Korean refugees once and for all, they are guilty of supporting the death of thousands of innocent lives. China has the power and opportunity to rewrite history and stop one of the greatest atrocities of our time — on behalf of our friends and family, please help #SaveMyFriend!
