From the filmmakers of “Last Train Home” and “Up the Yangtze” comes the new documentary “China Heavyweight”. In central China, a Master coach recruits poor rural teenagers and turns them into Western-style boxing champions. Through hard work and discipline, these boys and girls come of age, trained in the art of boxing and the game of life. They are filled with Olympic dreams, hoping to become China’s next amateur heroes. The top students face dramatic choices as they graduate – should they fight for the collective good or for themselves? A metaphor for the choices everyone in the New China faces now.
This film was an official selection to the 2012 Sundance film Festival and the 2012 Hotdocs films festival.

A few weeks back “The Adventures of Kim Jong Un” was released online. The leaked North Korean cartoon presents the totally true triumphs of the totally not pudgy Great North Korean Leader, Kim Jong Un. The anime features some crazy visuals with cameos by Bruce Willis, President Obama, and Veronica Mars. It leaves us speechless.
Freddie Wong is pretty serious with his ice cream. In his short “Don’t F with my ice cream”, he show you how serious he is about it. Bad things happen when Freddie gets revenge. Don’t be Kung Fooled by his demeanor.
Rapper J.Reyez teams up with singer/dancer Lydia Paek for the song “There For You” off the J.Reyez “Broken Heart” mixtape. Sampling the song Bedrock, the track talks about love through the ups and downs. The storyline for the video illustrates the strong bond of love between J.Reyez and his girl. Although the girl has a tragic accident, he still sticks by her side. He’s there for her no matter what happens.
