McDonald's Ice Coffee Wedding : Asian American Commercial

The crew at channelAPA.com has recently been seeing a McDonald’s Ice Coffee commercial featuring an Asian American bride getting ready for her wedding. Something seems to be missing from her process of prepping for the wedding, so she gets into the wedding decorated car and heads to the drive thru at McDonald’s. The bride gets the McCafe Iced Coffee and brings back some for the rest of her assistants. The commercial features Jenny del Rosario, Shuko Akune, and Adrian Zaw.

Lyrics to Gravity by Jason Chen

[verse 1]
I’m so lost, in love
with no rhythm or rhyme
I’m starstruck, I’m so stuck
with no sense of time

I fall apart, when you’re gone
I think that I need your love
Just pull me right back to start
I dont know what this could be, so lost in your mystery

[Hook]

Caught up in your Gravity
Dont know how you got such a hold on me
Caught in your Gravity
You know I never want you to set me free
Caught up in your Gravity

[verse 2]
It’s just you, you’re all I need
to keep my heart tied
When you’re here, I wouldn’t fly away
Oh no, I wont even try

We fall apart, when you’re gone
I think that I need your love
Just pull me right back to start
I dont know what this could be, so lost in your mystery

[bridge]
There’s no way to stop this attraction
cause baby you’re my satisfaction
If you disappeared, it’s like the world would fall
I would lose control so never let me go x2
Not even the flight through the galaxy
could ever keep me away from you

Rep. Honda Statement on Asian Pacific American Heritage Month

Rep. Honda Statement on Asian Pacific American Heritage Month

Congressman Mike Honda released a message celebrating the 20th anniversary of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month. Here’s his message:

I’m proud to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month this May. This year’s theme for APA Heritage Month is “Striving for Excellence in Leadership, Diversity, and Inclusion,” which are three important principles to reflect on this month. Now numbering more than 17 million people, the AAPI community has become the fastest-growing racial group in the United States, and we have many accomplishments to celebrate and a truly diverse history to honor.

This year marks a series of anniversaries for the AAPI community, including the 30th Anniversary since the unpunished murder of Vincent Chin in Detroit, Michigan; the 70th Anniversary since the signing of Executive Order 9066 which placed 120,000 Americans of Japanese descent in internment camps, my family included; and the 130th Anniversary since the passage of the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882. Addressing these injustices throughout our nation’s history has not only strengthened civil rights and civil liberties, but also has helped to make our country a more perfect union.

Beyond acknowledging the challenges we have faced as a community, APA Heritage Month also recognizes the progress we have made in striving for excellence in leadership, diversity, and inclusion in all sectors of society. We’ve seen this being demonstrated through the growing number of AAPI federal judges and elected officials at the local, state, and national level; the rise of AAPI celebrities, entertainers, and artists in the mainstream media; the successes we have seen after creating access to health care for millions of AAPIs; and even the stardom of individuals like Jeremy Lin, for example, who have made us feel proud to be AAPI.

Having served as the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus Chair Emeritus, Immigration Taskforce Chair, and Appropriations Taskforce Chair, this year I am honored to serve the AAPI community and to ensure that America as a whole sees firsthand our valuable contributions and legacy. As we celebrate APA Heritage Month this May, let us take this month – and every month for that matter – to celebrate the values of leadership, diversity, and inclusion exemplified by AAPIs throughout the nation.

Let the celebrations begin.

Alright by Aziatix

Alright by Aziatix

Aziatix released their second single “Alright” and their latest EP, Awakening. The first single “Speed Of Light” acknowledges hardships and how to move past them, bringing a message of hope to whoever puts their ears on it. Their latest track “Alright” reaffirms that everything will be ok through all the ups and downs in life.

In the midst of destruction, natural disasters, corruption, and a collapsing economy, Aziatix reminds us that there is always hope and light even in the darkest of days. Their album “Awakening” coming out today comprises of songs that help us to be motivated and encouraged always. Aziatix wants to deliver a message of optimism and love in a way that is honest and genuine as a way to relate to not only their fans but to everyone else as well. The album can be healing and a reminder to never give up no matter how bleak life may get. In a time when music lacks deep substance, Aziatix provides us with relevant sounds in music whose message is real and whose sound is relevant.

Their fan base spans the globe, and AZIATIX have heard so many stories from them, where a sense of confidence and
well-being is vital. The trio hopes their music will inspire fans and comfort them, knowing that things will get better. “Every record on the album is about the struggles and challenges we face in life and what we can do to overcome them. While some songs are still pop, it’s not really about partying in the club, love, or loss in a typical sense. It’s much deeper,” they explain. Sonically, the group is tinkering with faster bpms, challenging themselves with their sound and instrumentation, moving through multiple genres seamlessly.

This EP is above all, a call to action. “If Nocturnal was an album that captured the essence of the night – celebrating the moments, conveying carpe noctem – Awakening is the morning after,” the supergroup states, “Where light shines in and they see the world and life as it is, but appreciating and ultimately celebrating life and the journey as a whole, encouraging all to carpe diem.”

You can get the album on Awakening - EP - AZIATIX or the single Alright on Alright - Awakening - EP.

Behind the scenes of Alright by Aziatix

Lyrics to Alright by Aziatix

(Flowsik)
All stress aside, it’s my time to shine
I did my 9 to 5, I’m glad that I’m alive
Step into the club, I roll through like I’m the man
Because I am, with the master plan, haters looking at me like damn

Wanna kick dirt up on my name, crush my life and all it’s dreams
Yet I feel so fresh, so clean when I step into the scene
Through the smiles and frowns, ups and downs, high and lows going all day and all night
Perfect timing, man it’s so right, my moment is here, I’ll be alright

Chorus
Feels like there’s something trying to tell me, everything is gonna’ be alright, alright, alright
But I can’t help but look over my shoulders, just to know it’s gonna’ be alright, alright, alright
I always feel like, somebody’s watching me
(And I have no privacy)
I always feel like, somebody’s watching me
(Tell me is it just a dream)

(Flowsik)
The stars are out I’ma take my place
Because I have way more then what it takes
And all the people behind wanna’ see me break
But from all my mistakes, I’m feeling great
Never will I call it quits, start scratching my head and be known for the one who flakes
Do the do the 2 step I got moves to make
I’m alright, alright, I’m straight
But Imma have to keep it real cuz’ some things will never change
The same thought that be playing in my brain

Chorus
Feels like there’s something trying to tell me, everything is gonna’ be alright, alright, alright
But I can’t help but look over my shoulders, just to know it’s gonna’ be alright, alright, alright
I always feel like, somebody’s watching me
(And I have no privacy)
I always feel like, somebody’s watching me
(Tell me is it just a dream)

Bridge
Put your hands up
A little higher, higher
Put your hands up
Put em up, put em up, way up in the sky

Chorus
Feels like there’s something trying to tell me, everything is gonna’ be alright, alright, alright
But I can’t help but look over my shoulders, just to know it’s gonna’ be alright, alright, alright
I always feel like, somebody’s watching me
(And I have no privacy)
I always feel like, somebody’s watching me
(Tell me is it just a dream)
