Singer Alfa Garcia released her music video for the single Blue off the World Go Blue album. She strums along on her ukelele at a picnic with different guys (KT Tatara, Mike Bauer, Maynard Okereke, Austin Jose). Although it’s a innocent and lovely setting, Alfa harbors a dark secret that only her true love knows. Be careful near Alfa. 🙂

Jeremy Lin blocks and dunks on Sacramento Kings

Kicking of the Lunar New Year, Houston Rockets Jeremy Lin launched some fireworks of his own on the court against the Sacramento Kings. In one continuous play, he blocked Aaron Brooks got the rebound and went coast to coast for a posterizing dunk on the other end over Francisco Garcia. He showed both his defensive and offensive basketball skills on the floor. The play made the top 3 plays of the night in the NBA.

You might have seen this commercial during the Grammys. Director Jon M Chu continues his collaboration with Microsoft with the latest commercial “The Vibe” for the Microsoft Surface Pro. Once again, he brings along his dancing friends Daniel Cloud Campos, Mike Song, and more. Even beatboxer KRNFX is added to the mix.

ESPN’s Jay Crawford always looks forward to working with a Harvard graduate. He gets an assist from Houston Rockets Jeremy Lin when he drops by SportsCenter. Lin helps Jay out with his writing and even helps him spellcheck.

Here’s a cool commercial from TD Ameritrade featuring an Asian American family. At his current pace, Bob the architect will retire at 153. That’s fine if he were a vampire, but he’s not. He’s an architect with 2 kids and a mortgage. Bob got a fresh perspective on his portfolio. With some planning and effort, hopefully he can retire at a more appropriate age. It’s not rocket science.

Help fund Lao Children's Book: Xieng Mieng Adventures

Lao American refugee Nor Sanavongsay is looking to print between 500 to 1,000 copies of his children’s book Xieng Mieng: A Sticky Mess. Here’s more about the story:

Xieng Mieng: A Sticky Mess is the comedic origin story of one of the most beloved folk heroes of Laos. A young monk keeps getting in trouble with the head of the monastery who think the boy can’t do anything right. Finally, the young boy decides to turn the tables with the help of a chicken and a little bit of a sticky snack called mieng. What happens next has become the stuff of legend for over 600 years! This is the hilarious tale of cleverness and ingenuity for children aged four and up. This will be the first of 5 stories in the making. The stories will be in English with some Lao words in English phonetics.

As an established and successful artist and designer, he’s looking to raise $3,000 to print the book in softcover, 6″ x 9″, 32 pages, and black and white. If he can reach his stretch goal of $10,000, he’s doing it in color. (What kid doesn’t want their storybook in color?) Did you know after 40 years since first coming to the US as refugees, there are still less than 40 books by Lao Americans regarding their heritage, their journey and culture. This is a key step to address that.
