Rapper Yultron released his 14 track mixtape “Skywalker”, which is a combination of the rapper’s signature carefree, mellow flow over smooth, laidback beats making for the perfect summer soundtrack. Moreover, tracks like the playful “Miss Behave,” pair Yultron’s smoky drawl with suitably hypnotic, triumphant strings. On the first single off the mixtape, “Flexin,” Yultron links up with Tyga’s protégé and hotly-tipped female MC Honey Cocaine, who recently released a 22-track mixtape, Thug Love herself. His tracks feature guest appearances from YG, Honey Cocaine and more! Whether he’s Flexin’ daily or enjoying the Summer Life, he’s always on the hustle and living high. He’s got big dream even with obstacles in the way.
Affectionate homages to the good green are layered throughout the project, but the most impressive constant throughout Skywalker is Yultron’s delivery. “Stargazer” sounds like the fascinating results of a particularly strong smoke session. Sampling some of history’s most memorable public speeches, Yultron adopts a compelling, stream of conscious flow. Other tracks, like “No Naps, No Siesta,” prove that the rapper continues to glean inspiration from diverse sources. Here, an unusual, airy croon repeating “No naps, no siesta, going hard, until nothing’s left of you,” prompts the artist to alternate deftly between cocky raps and effective singing. “I can get you high like me,” he promises confidently.
It’s fitting that Yultron would deliver his latest release as the sunshine emerges. Last year, the Asian-American artist scored a regional hit with the nostalgic “Summer Life.” The Las Vegas native’s ode to great weather, chilled drinks, and beautiful women
