The AFI thesis film “Samnang” is a donut shop love story set in Long Beach, California. SAMNANG is a recent Cambodian immigrant who works nights at a donut shop. He’s a solitary man who has found comfort in his new country by building a life of routine. But when his boss, NGOUN, orders him to train a new worker – his sister, VANNY, a spunky, single mom, he begins to discover that life could be a bit sweeter with another baker in the kitchen.

“Samnang” is inspired by writer Vanara Taing’s childhood memories of watching her family work to build a life in the United States through making donuts.

Snitch trailer with Dwayne Johnson

Dwayne Johnson (aka The Rock) stars as John Matthews, a businessman hit hard when his teenage son is wrongfully ensnared in a drug bust and threatened with a terrifying 10-30 years in federal prison (under the US government’s draconian minimum drug sentencing laws). The only option to reduce the sentence is to “snitch.” A desperate Matthews makes a deal with the politically ambitious federal prosecutor (Susan Sarandon) and infiltrates the operation of a violent drug dealer (Michael K. Williams). When his amateur undercover work unexpectedly exposes a major player in the Mexican drug trade (Benjamin Bratt), the rules suddenly change and an already dangerous venture turns decidedly deadly.

The film was inspired by true events. Snitch is slated to open February 22, 2013.
You’ll see a lot of The Rock this year in movies including “Pain & Gain” and G.I. Joe Retaliation
