Echoes by ShiGGa Shay x Sylvia Ratonel

Echoes by ShiGGa Shay x Sylvia Ratonel
Rapper ShiGGa Shay collaborates with singer Sylvia Ratonel for the music video “Echoes” off the album “They Call Me ShiGGa”. On the first verse of the track, he tells the tale of a relationship gone wrong. After the breakup, he can only hear the echoes. On the second verse, he dwells on the memories of losing a loved one. Once again, he can only hear the echoes from the past. Only an angel can take away the pain. With experiences like these, you feel like you can never love again. Here’s more from ShiGGa Shay about the music video:

Directing this music video was definitely a dream come true. Working with the people from Betaphats Studios and my team, Grizzle Films – from just conceptualizing the video to actually making it happen. Everything was done on a very tight budget so creating the visual representation of the song was really challenging. The video is loosely based on my life experiences from broken relationships to losing my father to cancer a few years ago. The video has a very open ending to it as well. So I’d like to leave it up to the viewers to draw their own conclusions after watching the video.

You can get the song on Echoes (feat. Sylvia Ratonel) - They Call Me ShiGGa.

Lyrics to Echoes by ShiGGa Shay x Sylvia Ratonel

(Intro)
Somebody find me an..
Uh, yo

(Verse 1)
see i gave her my all but she played me like an X-Box
it was all an act, and a moment fact so fake like a Mascot
aint nothing right when you left me nothing in the corner, torn and surprised
born from a lie, that smile of yours was all a disguise
now listen if you were in my position trapped in a whirlwind
step inside my shoes and you can see how my world spin
after all that you did to me, why do i still care
you sucked memories outta me and turned em all into nightmares
the past, from livin the life to tryin figure out what my life is
i hope karma hits you and your heart shatters like mine did
can’t believe after all you were only pretend
im done with this shit i swear i’ll never be in love again!

(Chorus):
somebody find me an angel one you can take away
never realised i loved you until you were gone
all i hear are these voices
get it outta my head, outta my head
ive had with this broken promises
and it kills me inside
just hearin your Echoes,
(in my head and its driving me crazy)
hearin your Echoes,
(can’t believe how much it’s changed me)
Hearin your Echoes,
(why was it all just taken away)
hearin your Echoes
(can’t lie no more, man im not okay)
and it kills me to hear your Echoes,
(said its killin me inside right now)
Im hearin your Echoes (man its killin me inside right now)
im hearin your echoes (said its killin me inside right now)
and it kills me to hear your echoes

(Verse 2)
crazy how it’s been 2 years since you passed away
and ive got alott bottled up that i really have to say
you would be so proud to know what ive been through
i would give up everything that i have just to get to see you
havin you believe in me, was, the greatest gift you gave
but leaving me to the family had me caught up in a maze
everything you did for me was all well worth it
i love you Papa but now its too late for you to hear it
when they criticized me, you told me to man-up
you taught to be a man so forever i stand tough
if we had money to pay the doctors you wouldve survived
its fucked up society’s not anything that is televised
it kills me to know that i wasnt there at your last breath
eats me alive thinking how we havent said goodbye yet
its weird now everyone misses you dearly
im shouting to the sky i just need to know if you can hear me

(Chorus):
somebody find me an angel one you can take away
never realised i loved you until you were gone
all i hear are these voices
get it outta my head, outta my head
ive had with this broken promises
and it kills me inside
just hearin your Echoes,
(in my head and its driving me crazy)
hearin your Echoes,
(can’t believe how much it’s changed me)
Hearin your Echoes,
(why was it all just taken away)
hearin your Echoes
(can’t lie no more, man im not okay)
and it kills me to hear your Echoes,
(said its killin me inside right now)
Im hearin your Echoes (man its killin me inside right now)
im hearin your echoes (said its killin me inside right now)
Im hearin your Echoes
(man its killin me inside right now)

Breakdown:
Sometimes I just wanna let it go tomorrow,
try so hard to only feel my sorrow,
I turn around and I only see me,
lookin’ in the mirror and I only see me…
and I’m hearin your Echoes..
and I’m hearin your Echoes.. your Echoes.. oh..
Your Echoes.. Your Echoes..
and I’m hearin’ your Echoes.. Your Echoes..
Your Echoes.. and I’m hearin’ Your Echoes..
(I swear I’ll never be in love again!)
(I just need to know if you can hear me!)
(I swear I’ll never be in love again!)
(I just need to know if you can hear me!)

City Beautiful by Adam Warrock

City Beautiful by Adam Warrock

Nerdcore rapper Adam Warrock dropped the music video “City Beautiful”. It’s a ode to his hometown : Memphis, TN. After quitting his job and touring with is music, he lands back at home hitting up all the local spots. Here’s more from Adam Warrock about his track:

I came back from almost two years of touring and fell back in love with my hometown of Memphis, TN. With the warm, soulful backdrop of Rob Viktum’s amazing beats, I started making an EP for the winter of 2012, knowing that I wanted to maybe be a bit more personal, a bit more introspective. I mostly just felt my way through these beats and out came City Beautiful, what I view to be an album of me talking about the past, talking about the future, and talking about why home is, for maybe the first time in a long time for a ton of reasons, an almost wholly good thing. I invited some of my best friends in the nerdcore scene, and asked them to be on my “least nerdy” album, and if you ask me, I think they all destroyed it. So here’s City Beautiful, an album about coming home, again, for the first time in a lot of ways.
