San Diego jet fighter crash kills Korean family

By now, you may have heard about the San Diego jet fighter crash. When both engines of an F/A-18D Hornet failed, the pilot ejected to safety seconds before the aircraft slammed into the pavement on Cather Avenue near Huggins Street, about two miles west of Marine Corps Air Station Miramar. Sadly, the plane crashed into a residential area, where a Korean family had moved into the house just two to three weeks ago.

The crash happened around noon and took the lives of 36 year old mother Young Mi Yoon, her mother sixty year old Suk Im Kim, and her two daughters 15-month-old Grace and two-month-old Rachel. Suk Im Kim, had recently arrived from South Korea to stay a short time and care of the baby. The family is survived by the husband and father, Dong Yun Yoon, who had said goodbye to his family and left for work a few hours before the crash. He is getting a lot of support from his church, the Korean United Methodist Church in San Diego.

This is such a tragic story right before the holidays. Our hearts go out to the Yoon family.
