In his latest video “This is Me”, Young Chariz talks his journey in the music industry. Chris “Chariz” Contreras out of Vallejo, CA. has been rapping, singing, and producing music since he was 11 years old. His first musical projects started off with a local group known as “Groundbasics.”
Chariz signed a deal with the record label Go Bigg Music Group in the summer of 2009, with hopes of taking it to the next level. That same year, he released his first project with Go Bigg Music Group entitled “The Resurrection,” with a couple notabe songs. “Somebody Like You” is a track on the album which features Filipina R&B artist Michelle Martinez, while another single from this album, “Rock the Party” has also topped the charts as the #1 song on Canada’s Winnepeg FM radio station, 104.7 for three weeks.
2010 was a very busy year for Chariz releasing the mixtape “Checkmate” in February, the very popular collaborative album with SMG’s Mike Dash E entitled “The Funeral” with tracks like Baby What You Drinkin and most recently, “The Leader of the New School.” His highly anticipated solo masterpiece, “It’s Curtain’s”, is scheduled for release in the June 7. 2011. Fellow Filipino artists such as, J. Voqalz, Jayne Rio, Nump Trump, Bambu, Mike Swift and others, are featured on these projects along with the upcoming “It’s Curtain’s” album. Last week, UCB (University of British Columbia) released a LipDub video promoting their school and raising money for Make a Wish Foundation. On Saturday March 26, 2011, over 1000 people gathered to rock out and lipsynch to Raise Your Glass (P!nk) and Celebrity Status (Marianas Trench). Lots of different elements in this video. It kicks off with a spoof of the Old Spice guy, then shows off the diversity of the school population along with various student activities. (Looks like a large Asian population over at UCB.) The school campus look pretty fun with unicorns, Power Rangers, scuba divers and more. The most impressive part of the student made video is the helicopter fly over shot. Stay til the end of the video to see some of the behind the scenes action.

Nump Trump of 454 Life Entertainment dropped his track “I’m Hungover” last year, but now he’s released a music video for it. Both the song and the music video sample from “The Office” along with borrowing from his own single “Macho Man Randy Savage“. Ooh yeah!!! This song is a great companion piece to Rock, Rock, Rock.
