Pop Rock band Crash Boom Bang put out the music video “V.I.P.” earlier this year off their “These Wild Things” EP. (One of the members of this group is lead guitarist Chaucer Hwang.) In the video, the four guys live a life of opulence throwing a VIP party on a yacht full of beautiful women. However, living this lifestyle isn’t easy as they live a double life to gain their riches. Lyrics to V.I.P. by Crash Boom Bang
Out on the floor, I see your face
Tell me what you’re doing, in this place
Tell me who you with? Better question…Where we going?
I need to know if you are showing
Up in the VIP, I want you up on me,
I’ve been around the world, right here’s the place to be
We’re gonna still be hot after the music stops, after the music drops.
We’re rocking ’till the A.M. (woh-oh)
We’re rocking with our drinks in our hands (woh-oh)
Tomorrow it don’t matter (woh-oh)
Tonight we’re gonna rock, rock the night
Up in the VIP, I want you up on me,
I’ve been around the world, right here’s the place to be
Up in the VIP everything’s alright
Tonight we’re gonna rock, rock the night
Put your hands up in the air
Now put’m ’round on me
Since we don’t care let’s give em something to see
It’s only 3:30 in the morning, let’s get up, let’s get another round flowin
Up in the VIP, I want you up on me,
I’ve been around the world, right here’s the place to be
We’re gonna still be hot after the music stops, after the music drops.
We’re rocking ’till the A.M. (woh-oh)
We’re rocking with our drinks in our hands (woh-oh)
Tomorrow it don’t matter (woh-oh)
Tonight we’re gonna rock, rock the night!
Up in the VIP, I want you up on me,
I’ve been around the world, right here’s the place to be
Up in the VIP everything’s alright
Tonight we’re gonna rock, rock the night
Let’s keep it going, tonight will never stop
Sound the alarm, now put ’em up
Let’s keep it going, tonight will never stop
Sound the alarm, now put ’em up
Now we are alive (x4)
We’re rocking ’till the A.M. (woh-oh)
We’re rocking with our drinks in our hands (woh-oh)
Tomorrow it don’t matter (woh-oh)
Tonight we’re gonna rock, rock the night
Up in the VIP, I want you up on me,
I’ve been around the world, right here’s the place to be
Up in the VIP everything’s alright
Tonight we’re gonna rock, rock the night
Recently, we had the opportunity to catch the Derek Ting’s “Supercapitalist“. If you ever wanted to see an Asian American Wall Street or Boiler Room, this is it. Supercapitalist is a financial thriller about a young maverick New York hedge fund trader Conner Lee (played by Derek Ting) who is sent to Hong Kong to strike a deal, which quickly gets out of his control. It’s a battle of financial muscle between corporate tycoons and hedge fund ex-pats. It’s a unique storyline that bridges the world of money between New York and Hong Kong.
For this first time filmmaker, Derek Ting didn’t have a big budget for his film. Much like his character, he relied on his intuitive instincts to move his project/deal forward. Six years in the making, the film attracted a mix of well-respected talent including HK movies stars like Kenneth Tsang (Die Another Day, Rush Hour 2), Richard Ng, Lester Chan (Ang Lee’s Eat Drink Man Woman) along with Golden Globe Nominee Linus Roache (Law and Order, Batman Begins), Kathy Uyen, and Michael Park (2 time Emmy Winner, As the World Turns). Although he faced many obstacles along the way, he continued to persevere in his drive both make and distribute the film. The audience has already embraced the film from the rookie filmmaker as he takes his movie from city to city. Considering the movie had a small budget, it’s impressive that Derek and his team where able to shoot across three 3 countries and get global distribution for the film. Not only is the film making the rounds in theaters, cable and VOD nationwide, but it’s also got day and date distribution globally in 14 countries on itunes. Look for the film at a theater (fandango or movietickets.com), cable, or VOD near you or check it out on or amazon
