Six time hot dog champion Takeru Kobayashi hoped to reclaim his title after he was defeated by Joey Chestnut last year. The two competed once again in the 2008 Nathan’s Famous International Hot Dog Eating Contest in New York. Takeru Kobayashi and Joey Chestnut were tied with 59 hot dogs a piece in a 10-minute regulation round of competition. However, Chestnut beat Kobayashi in sudden death overtime in a five-dog eat-off. Kobayashi will have to wait til next year to reclaim the Yellow Mustard belt.
