Margaret Chin wins NYC District 1 (Chinatown)

None of the major TV news outlets covered Margaret Chin’s historic win in New York City’s District 1 Council race. We found some good footage on her historic win online. (Props to The Lo-Down for the coverage.) She becomes the first Chinese council member to represent Manhattan’s Chinatown, and the first Asian woman on the City Council. The victory party was not only a celebration of Chin’s accomplishment but also a celebration of NY Chinatown’s new political clout. She joins John Liu in making history for Asian Americans in NYC.
