143 (Kelly’s Song) by Jake Shimabukuro

143 (Kelly's Song) by Jake Shimabukuro

Ukulele virtuoso Jake Shimabukuro released a video of himself playing the song “143 (Kelly’s Song)” off his new album “Peace Love Ukulele“. The song “143” was inspired by Jake’s years in high school when cell phones and text messaging didn’t exist. If you were one of the cool kids, you probably had something called a pager. Back in those days, there were numeric codes for pagers – and “143” was the numeric code for “I love you.”

Look for a documentary about Jake coming soon. See some footage of him playing Blue Roses Falling from the documentary.

Lyrics to Tonight by Chuckie Akenz

Hook:
Maybe if I jump I’ll spread my wings
I know I’ve been wrong about these things
I don’t care if no one else believes
I think that if you believed then maybe we’ll make it tonight
If you believe in me, like I believe in you tonight
because impossible is possible tonight

verse 1:
tonight is the night where I’m chasing the light/
so much darkness in my life, all i can do is fight/
but i don’t wanna argue about who’s wrong or right/
do you believe in me?, your answer’s what i’d like/

I made time for you, stopped crime for you/
and if it ever came i’d bust mine for you/
my hearts loyal even though its spoiled/
even if you hate me still i’d adore you/

but life’s twisted, even when its gifted/
never would i move even if the world shifted/
never could i lose my love if i wished it/
and i mean you, a thousand words pictured/

hah… the memories when they fall/
and when it all came down who’s there to go call?/
i know its all tough ground when you barely at fault/
so if i can’t choose both, i ain’t choosing at all/

hook:
Maybe if I jump I’ll spread my wings
I know I’ve been wrong about these things
I don’t care if no one else believes
I think that if you believed then maybe we’ll make it tonight
If you believe in me, like I believe in you tonight
because impossible is possible tonight

verse 2:
tonight, all i want, is believe in your man/
cause baby, i just wonder do you really understand?/
the pain and the hunger from scraping what I can/
the cracks and the blisters from these two burnt hands/

i wish i could give you the world but i can’t yet/
feel the grip, hug you tight like a corset/
wheres my luck? number 7 like a horse bet/
don’t matter head high with a hurt neck/

we working hard, but stress is on me/
tryna make it through this game, this dream you cant see/
bills piling up, you doubt where i’ll be/
i know it in my heart one day we’ll be free/

arguments can only cause more stress/
so knowledge is what we all know best/
i thought you had me when it all made sense/
but now your gone for what i’m up against/

hook:
Maybe if I jump I’ll spread my wings
I know I’ve been wrong about these things
I don’t care if no one else believes
I think that if you believed then maybe we’ll make it tonight
If you believe in me, like I believe in you tonight
because impossible is possible tonight

Giant Robot’s 8 bit video game car

Giant Robot's 8 bit video game car

The folks over at Giant Robot modified a Scion into a video game car inspired by the 8-bit Nintendo Famicom system. The pop doors on the car have round red push buttons like arcade games and make various Super Mario Brother sounds when opened and closed. Not only is it a vehicle, but it also doubles as a game system. The “key” is a special game cartridge powers the car and makes sound when put in or taken out. To start the car, you need to push a red game button. The seat belt clamps double as game controllers, while the front headlights offers a projection of the game. The rear of the vehicle has a different projection system. The interior has seats inspired by the Activision color scheme, while the exterior is designed to look like a game controller with the wheels looking like buttons.

This was part of the Pixel Pushers exhibit.
