2011 Silk Screen Film Festival

The 2011 Silk Screen Film Festival will present around 20 films with 40 screenings from various nations, from Turkey to Japan. The festival runs May 6-15, 2011 at four venues: The Harris Theater, the Melwood Screening Room, Regent Square Theater, and The Warhol Museum. Silk Screen kicks off its sixth annual Asian American Film Festival with a screening of “I Am” on Friday, May 6, 2011. Critically acclaimed “I Am”, from director and producer Onir, is a powerful account of four people struggling to repair their broken lives. The four-piece film intertwines the tales of Abhimanyu, Omar, Afia, and Megha as they face prejudice and discrimination within modern Indian society while never losing sight of their dreams. “I Am” is in Hindi with English subtitles.

Notable films in the fesitval include Saigon Electric, SF Stories, Three Veils, Wedding Palace, and more. The festival is an annual event showcasing films and filmmakers with origins in India, Japan, China, Taiwan, Indonesia, Korea, Thailand, the Philippines, Iran, and more.
