Help fund Locating the Sacred in New York

NYC-based Asian American Arts Alliance believes that artists can change the world. They’re looking to raise $6000 for “Locating the Sacred,” a 12-day festival that showcases artists as agents of change, demonstrating the power of art and culture to unleash imagination, break down barriers, and connect communities together for the greater good. Artists will be matched to spaces regarded as sacred, where they will collaborate to produce their own events. Through these events, we will explore the meaning of the word “sacred” to our communities, and showcase Asian American artists as agents of change. They’ll explore what sacredness means to all of us through dance, music, film, visual arts, and lots more.

“Locating the Sacred” will be launched this September with a “mini-series” of three events, just in time to commemorate the tenth anniversary of 9/11. The full festival will take place in fall 2012.
