Lyrics to Captive by Teesa

You broke me into pieces when you said that we’re through
Your lies I’m still believing, was any of it true?
I go to bed wrong, hoping to wake up right
But this place reminds me.
You took your things out, even stole my light
And left me here in nothing

You take my heart captive, captive
Nothing feels the same, the same
Can’t you tell what’s happening now?
The lover takes the pain

Rewind us like a film, but only the good times
You’re perfect and I’m patient, but that’s not in real life
You were the careful and I was the generous type, I was never leaving
I burn your photograph only to get back my mind
All I believe in is

You take my heart captive, captive
Nothing feels the same, the same
Can’t you tell what’s happening now?
The lover takes the pain

You walked away. My heart remained.
Why can’t I just forget you you you you you?

The Potential Wives of Norman Mao Trailer

The Potential Wives of Norman Mao Trailer

Last year, The Potential Wives of Norman Mao was looking for funding for the short. The film got funded and it’s making the rounds on the film festival circuit. Here’s more about the film:

Norman Mao is an overweight, and socially-awkward man-child from Hong Kong, who at the age of 33 is still unwed. Desperate to get him married, his parents take him on an international junket across the globe to find him a worthy Chinese wife. The Maos arrive to a New York City hotel, which is their final stop on their trip and their last hope to find Norman a bride. Having hired a professional matchmaking service, the Maos meet with three matches for Norman. Will one of these women be a potential wife for Norman or is he destined to lead a terribly lonely life?

The Potential Wives of Norman Mao is a quirky and heartwarming short film narrated by the legendary George Takei (Star Trek) and starring Ed Lin (A Waiter Tomorrow and renowned writer), Tina Chen (Three Days of the Condor, Face), Ron Nakahara (Hawaii Five-O), Cindy Cheung (Lady in the Water, Children of Invention), Michelle Ang (Xena, The Tribe), Soomi Kim (Law & Order), and Wai Ching Ho (The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, Flight of the Conchords). Beautifully shot by Sam Chase (Moonlight Sonata, Two Mothers, Almost Perfect), this comic fairytale was written and directed by of Sundance Screenwriters Lab alumni Derek Nguyen, and produced by Blake Ashman-Kipervaser (Prince of Broadway, The Lottery, Greg the Bunny) and Shannon McCoy Cohn (Sea Nation).

The short also had a trailer release this week. Watch it below.

So What (Artwalk Remix) by Far East Movement

If you like the latest Far East Movement song “So What?,” check out their live performance on the streets of downtown LA (They love Los Angeles. See Rocketeer – LA Dreamer version) with their homie Robert Vargas. They start with the regular So What? song, but Prohgress, J-Splif, and KevNish quickly switch it up with their own rap verses with that LA flavor. They’re bringing their music to the masses.

China Blue

China Blue

2011 marks the 20th anniversary of the Independent Television Service (ITVS), one of the largest sources of funding for independent filmmakers. In recognition of this milestone, ITVS has launched the ITVS Indies Showcase, a free online film festival running from July 25 to September 23, 2011 in honor of the extraordinary contributions of independent filmmakers to public television. This weekend they are showing China Blue. Here’s more about the film:

The documentary China Blue follows 17-year-old Jasmine, one of many teenagers working at a blue jeans factory, struggling to survive brutal work conditions. They work around the clock for pennies a day. Shot clandestinely and without permission from Chinese authorities, China Blue takes a rare and poignant look at the individuals who toil day-to-day to make the clothes we buy. CHINA BLUE reveals what international retail companies don’t want us to see: how the clothes we buy are actually made. To date, the film remains banned in China.

You can watch this free online screening Friday, August 12 – Sunday, August 14, 2011 here.
