Wong Fu Productions 2009 Autumn Tour

Wong Fu Productions is going on their 2009 Autumn Tour. They’re mostly hitting the East Coast including Boston, New Jersey, Maryland, Philly, Connecticut, and Virginia. Also a few stops in Texas and Indiana. Check them out if Wong Fu Productions is going to be at your school. For the full schedule, go here. These guys usually show new stuff they have posted online.

2009 Philadelphia Asian American Film Festival Trailer Winners

Watch the Top 3 videos from the 2009 Philadelphia Asian American Film Festival Trailer Contest. The panel of judges, which included music video and documentary film director Todd Angkasuwan (music videos for Snoop Dogg, Far East Movement & many more), producer Philip Lam (Santa Mesa & Undoing) and Cliff Song, representing sponsor HBO, selected “Flying Away to the Movies” as the winner. You might need to view the video several times since you’ll see new things every time you watch it. Here’s a synopsis:

A young boy leaves his static television world and follows a flying film reel, taking a journey to find inspiration in movies at Philadelphia’s very own Chinatown Arch where the opening night film of the festival is about to begin.

The festival runs from October 9-11, 2009. The PAAFF lineup has some of the hottest Asian American films on the festival circuit this year.

Hey Philly, the official lineup for the 2009 Philadelphia Asian American Film Festival (PAAFF) has been released. Here’s some of the highlights:

Opening Night Film – Children of Invention by Tze Chun

Centerpiece Presentation – Formosa Betrayed by Will Tiao

Closing Night Film – Story of Wine by Cheol-ha Lee

2009 Philadelphia Asian American Film Festival Teaser Trailer

1st Philadelphia Asian American Film Festival

The 1st Annual Philadelphia Asian American Film Festival will take place Thursday, October 9th to Sunday, October 12th. The Opening Night Film (Thursday, Oct. 9th 7-9pm) “Far North” starring Michelle Yeoh (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon), Michelle Krusiec (Saving Face) & Sean Bean (Lord of the Rings) will premiere at the Bridge: Cinema de Lux (40th & Walnut St). A free reception will immediately follow for ticket holders at the Carriage House (3907 Spruce Street) on University of Pennsylvania campus, a short 2 block walk from the theater.



The Asian Arts Initiative (AAI) will be hosting all the remaining screenings and events from Friday, October 10th to Sunday, October 12th at their new building on 1219 Vine Street, just outside Chinatown.

Philly Asian Film Festival looking for film submissions

The Philadelphia Asian American Film Foundation is now accepting submissions for its 1st Annual Asian American Film Festival. Held from October 24 – 30, 2008, the Philadelphia Asian American Film Festival is dedicated to supporting Asian American films and filmmakers by education, interaction, and participation throughout the Philadelphia area.

To be eligible, short and feature productions must be directed by, produced by, or starring Asian Americans, or with subject matter concerning Asian American issues. The selected entries will be screened during the festival.

Deadlines for submissions are July 7th for early and August 11 for final. Discounts are also available for any early and electronic entries. Submit your short or feature film through Withoutabox.com and get in on our early bird deadline!
