Funny People with Aziz Ansari

Aziz Ansari has a small role in the film as standup comic Randy in Funny People. Although he doesn’t have a big part, his Randy “documentary” is spreading on the ‘Net. The whole standup routine is Not Safe For Work. You can watch his three part video (See Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3). The whole thing is hilarious. Word is that it’s probably gonna be on the DVD. Also there’s been early discussions about make a Randy movie too. You can get tickets to Funny People here.

Thirst directed by Park Chan-wook

Thirst opens today in select cities in the US. Director Park Chan-wook continues his explorations of human existence in extreme circumstances. This time throw in the currently trendy vampire character. As usual with Park Chan-wook films, Thirst is rating R for graphic bloody violence, disturbing images, strong sexual content, nudity, and language. Here’s a synopsis:

A priest becomes a vampire…another man’’s wife is coveted…a deadly seduction triggers murder. Thirst is the new film from director Park Chan-wook (Old Boy, Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance, Sympathy for Lady Vengeance). Already a box office smash in Korea, Thirst was honored with the Prix du Jury [Jury Prize] at the 2009 Cannes International Film Festival.

Sang-hyun (played by top Korean star Song Kang-ho, of The Host) is a priest who cherishes life; so much so, that he selflessly volunteers for a secret vaccine development project meant to eradicate a deadly virus. But the virus takes the priest, and a blood transfusion is urgently ordered up for him. The blood he receives is infected, so Sang-hyun lives – but now exists as a vampire. Struggling with his newfound carnal desire for blood, Sang-hyun’s faith is further strained when a childhood friend’s wife, Tae-ju (Kim Ok-vin) comes to him asking for his help in escaping her life. Sang-hyun soon plunges into a world of sensual pleasures, finding himself on intimate terms with the Seven Deadly Sins.

Uneasy by David Choi

David Choi does another video for his new original song “Uneasy”. The song can be summed by Girl + Guy + “better” Guy = Uneasy. If you like music, check out his album “Only You“.

BTW – If you’re in Los Angeles, he’s hanging out at Six Flag Magic Mountain today with other Asian American YouTubers.

Uneasy by David Choi

Lyrics for Uneasy by David Choi

I don’t like it when you hang out with him

You tell me that you’re friends…I’m jealous

You say “I love you” and I’m the only one you’ll kiss

And I’m the only one you’ll miss…but I’m jealous

Oh my crazy imagination

Takes me in your shoes

He drives a better car

He’s better lookin than me

You get along so well

When you’re with him I’m just someone else

I know this isn’t true cuz I know it when I look at you

It’s uneasy when I’m waiting for you

All the questions that I try to deny

They’re hiding deep inside

I don’t want it

It’s so much worse when I can not see it hurt

Can I feel so insecure

don’t want it

Oh my crazy imagination

Takes me in your shoes

He drives a better car

He’s better lookin than me

You get along so well

When you’re with him I’m just someone else

I know this isn’t true cuz I know it when I look at you

It’s uneasy when I’m waiting for you

It’s an illusion I tell myself

It’s so confusing so hard not to tell

Girl do you notice, girl can you see

What you’re doing to me?

He drives a better car

He’s better lookin than me

You get along so well

When you’re with him I’m just someone else

I know this isn’t true cuz I know it when I look at you

It’s uneasy when I’m waiting for you

Back to Me by Melissa Polinar

LYRICS:

“Back To Me”

(Tony Lucca & Melissa Polinar)

I.

I was down,

broken by the wind’s blow

lookin’ to a shadow

for a place to hide

you were there

offering a warm hand

helped me to understand

that you were on my side

and though I’d dream us clear onto forever

for I’d come running if ever you should call

as seasons bring new songs to sing

new hearts to hold on to

I’ll trust true Love can weather all we put her through

tomorrow I’ll let go as you go free

and pray your heart will lead you back to me

II.

we were young,

willing, though unable

to think of Love as stable,

too proud to compromise.

though in time,

we found our way together

never to surrender

love would soon arise

still somehow you’re left wondering and wanting

you’ll seek the best, the rest you’ll criticize.

just when you decide you’re through

you’ll hear me call your name

realize your heart just doesn’t ached the same

tomorrow I’ll let go as you go free

and pray your Love will lead you back to me

as seasons bring new songs to sing

new hearts to hold on to

I’ll trust true Love can weather all we put her through

I’ll be there when you’re done being free

and trust our Love will lead you back to me

promise you’ll always come back to me…

Kogi Taco Truck – behind the scenes

We’ve been dying to post this since May, when this short was on demand on Comcast Cable. Now that it’s online everyone can check out the video.

The Kogi Taco Truck blends the best of Korean, Mexican and late night dining to-go in Los Angeles. L.A. Renigen talks to Kogi chef Roy Choi about the two-hour wait for a two-dollar taco – beef tacos, kimchee quesadillas, tofu tacos, and more. Footage also includes shots of their kitchen, about the size of a taco truck. This is the first time we’ve ever seen the kitchen. Not even Nightline got back there.

Not in the Los Angeles area, try making your own Kogi BBQ Sauce at home.
