Trenches Preview by Gabe Bondoc

Trenches Preview by Gabe Bondoc

Gabe Bondoc gives you a peek at his upcoming EP with the track “Trenches”. There’s not need to fight to prove you’re right when you’re in a relationship. Remember what side you’re on. (Makes us think of Grenade by Bruno Mars. Sometimes love it like a war.) The one minute snippets and the past few original songs he’s released, we expect the EP to revolve around the ups and downs of relationships. There’s a thin line between love and hate. Listen to Little Black Book, Now I Know, and You’re It

Trenches Preview by Gabe Bondoc

Lyrics to Trenches by Gabe Bondoc

Verse 1:
girl tell me what, we’re fighting for,
i wanna hear it coming from you baby
this field of battle, this aimless war,
i’m dodging bullets waiting in the trenches,
this isn’t what i signed up for,
i don’t know how to change where happened,
who’s keeping track, who’s keeping score,
i don’t think anyone is counting the burns
there’s no harm in dropping arms,
i won’t fire if you don’t

Chorus:
there’s no need to fight, to prove your right 2x
there’s no need to fight, you know i’m on your side (your side)
there’s no need to fight, to prove your right 2x
there’s no need to fight, you know i’m on your side (your side)

Verse 2:
we’re treading lightly, this field of mines,
we got to keep an eye on where we’re going
let’s hold it steady, we’ll walk the line
girl if we stick together we’ll survive
i won’t keep secrets, don’t tell me lies
there ain’t a thing that’s gonna come between us
i know you’re ready, and so am i

come and take my hand you know you’ll feel high
there’s no harm in dropping arms, i won’t fire if you don’t .

Chorus:
there’s no need to fight, to prove your right 2x
there’s no need to fight, you know i’m on your side (your side)
there’s no need to fight, to prove your right 2x
there’s no need to fight, you know i’m on your side (your side)

Bridge:
you’ll do no more harm, i refuse not to defuse this
gotta be strong, drop arms, gotta stay calm,
gotta be strong, drop arms, gotta stay calm,
you’ll do no more harm . ohh .

GUITAR SOLO .

Chorus:
there’s no need to fight, to prove your right 2x
there’s no need to fight, you know i’m on your side (your side)
there’s no need to fight, to prove your right 2x
there’s no need to fight, you know i’m on your side (your side)

Lyrics to Rise to the Top by Tommy C x J.Reyez

(Verse)
I got infinite energy,
And I’m going to the top,
No one stopping me.

And if you wanna come with me,
You better rise to the occasion,
Prepare for the invasion.

Aim for the stars,
There’s no turning back,
We gonna lay it on the line,
Got it. Roger that.

And if they put up a fight,
Oh we can dance all night,
I will never back down,
You can count on that.

(Pre-hook)
People across the world,
They’ll be ready for you,
So many beautiful girls,
Doing what you want to,

Can you handle the pressure?
Being on that level?
Paparazzi taking shots,
Like Bacardi on the rocks,

(Hook)
Rise to the top
Rise, rise to the top
Ain’t nobody gon stop
Our shine at the top,

Turn up the levels,
Fire blazing, Be incredible,
Rise, Rise to the top
Rise, Rise to the top.

(Verse 2)
Ready for mission impossible.
Tune in the satellite briefing
Turn on the radio.

Unstrap your seat belts, just lose control.
And go bananas if you feel it,
Don’t slip if you feel it,

Aim for the stars,
There’s no turning back,
We gonna lay it on the line,
Got it. Roger that.

I’m head to a place where great,
Just doesn’t cut it,
And the limit is just the beginning.

(Pre-hook)
People across the world,
They’ll be ready for you,
So many beautiful girls,
Doing what you want to,

Can you handle the pressure?
Being on that level?
Paparazzi taking shots,
Like Bacardi on the rocks,

(Hook)

J.Reyez (Rap)
yeah and I always rise cuz I’m filled up with hot air
and I’m looking high up, haters hate but I do not care
no career and you know your times up
sorry your teams way behind us, pause
things change and this what time does
you think you best? please remind us
shouts to the women who diggin’ real men
no hard feelings, so don’t conceal them
and this what we do, we hold the club down
see your baby girl, she wanna f*ck now
taking shots all night, see us by the bar
I ain’t taking her home, she gotta find a car
cuz she’s so gone, I’m on to the next
she trying to hold on, I don’t want the sex
I’m chillin by booth with all my homies
just me and my crew, it’s never lonely
and we all turned nothing to somethin’
everybody in here I came up with
and we party all night living for the moment
we only got one life so we gonna enjoy it

(Hook) x 2

2011 San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival Award Winners

The 2011 San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival (SFIAAFF), which ran March 10-20, 2011 and presented by the Center for Asian American Media (CAAM), concluded with an estimated attendance of 25,000, including over 200 filmmakers, actors and other industry guests. 129 shows, more than half of which were sold out, created an exciting buzz throughout the 11-day event. This year’s program boasted 5 world premieres, 7 North American premieres, 4 U.S. premieres, and 25 San Francisco premieres.

Festival Director Masashi Niwano said: “SFIAAFF has long been the nation’s premiere showcase for Asian American and Asian films. But with 110 feature-length and short films from 20 countries, plus a host of interactive events, this year was CAAM’s most ambitious yet. We are delighted by the new ways the audience is engaging with the festival, and we look forward to seeing them at our 30th anniversary next year.”

2011 Narrative Competition
The narrative jury included Aseem Chhabra, Quentin Lee and Leonardo Nam.

Best Film: THE IMPERIALISTS ARE STILL ALIVE!, Dir. Zeina Durra
Jury Statement: Great filmmaking has to be courageous. This film has a clever and engaging script and an inspired sense of humor. Depicting a slice of life of an artist, it takes us inside the world of eccentric artists in New York and reminds us of the freshness of Wayne Wang’s CHAN IS MISSING.

Special Jury Prize: THE TAQWACORES, Dir. Eyad Zahra
Jury Statement: It’s an important thing for this film to be made because it shows the diversity of Islam that we don’t see in popular media. With well-drawn characters that we care about, the film is engaging to a universal audience.

2011 Documentary Competition
The documentary jury included Anita Chang, Jessie Mangaliman and Alex Rivera.

Best Film: MADE IN INDIA, Dirs. Rebecca Haimowitz and Vaishali Sinha
Jury Statement: An unflinching and surprising look at a rapidly growing industry that puts women’s bodies on a new global market.

Visual Achievement Award: SUMMER PASTURE, Dirs. Lynn True and Nelson Walker

Award for Achievement in Citizen Journalism: OPEN SEASON, Dirs. Lu Lippold and Mark Tang
Jury Statement: A nuanced approach to an urgent contemporary issue – that of refugee and migrant struggles to find a home and justice in 21st-century America.

2011 Audience Awards
The festival moviegoers voted for the Audience Awards for Best Narrative Feature and Best Documentary Feature. Award winners were tallied based on paper ballots and a text-to-vote system. The 2011 Audience Award winners are:

Best Narrative Feature: SURROGATE VALENTINE, Dir. Dave Boyle

I Do This All Day by J. Reyez

Lyrics to I Do This All Day by J. Reyez

(verse 1)
making moves, yup they call them the makers
flying in an aircraft, I’m so aviator
meteor flow hit ya body with them craters
step up on stage looking like Darth Vader
your rhymes dull mine will cut ya face like a razor
living life greater, flipping bars like a skater
invisible, you can’t see me, water vapor
if you wanna succeed you’ll get a lotta haters
but listen up hater, you should do yourself a favor
watch ya girl cuz shes a mm I wouldn’t wanna date her
my youtube views speeding up like a racecar
getting more subs and you see me on ya radar
and I’m on the grind, see the fans recognize me
I shine bright in ya eyes like a highbeam
I wreck the track, you can call it a traincrash
and I state the facts and you suckas can’t change that

(chorus)
I do this all day, life is like a high way
I do this all day and I do it my way
cuz I’m the runnin back and I ain’t never runnin back
to the past, enjoy ya life hater, wish you luck with that

(verse 2)
I’m heavyweight, pound for pound, you are just ounces
I’m so astounding, I’ll leave you dumbfounded
I’m coming from the underground, flow out the fountain
count my own money cuz I’m my own accountant
turning up the PA, this is my announcement
snares on deck, 808’s f*ckin’ bouncing
keep it real a thousand, my team well grounded
my music heard around b*tch, you are just surrounded
and I’m so determined, you gotta understand it
and dreams bringing everybody to a different planet
I get it how I get it and I’ve written what I’m livin’
and it’s me against the world, middle finger to the critics
got my tie and suit on, I’m all about the business
and I am just too gone, this buzz got me trippin
cranberry and orange with the vodka’s what I’m mixing
searching for abundance, I’m gonna find the riches
it ain’t about nothin cuz we all want somethin’
this track is cross country… I run it
I am number 1 cut, I keep this sh*t buzzin’
burn cuz I’m hot and I’m stunnin’, combustion

(verse 3)
yup I hold my team down til I’m a multi-billionaire
I’m aiming for my goals with a bulls eye
my flow so cool and it keep the wind breezy
you rappers 2 dimensional, my sh*t’s in 3D
wearing my clothes but you still can’t be me
It ain’t easy, switch it up
I’m speeding up and you see it, cuz I’m rising up and succeeding
and you watching me so believe it, muthaf*ckaz know I cuisine it
cuz I eat this beat up with my feet up, and I heat it up like a pizza
and you know my rhymes will decease ya and the slaughterhouse better clean up
ugh you ain’t even take off from the landing strip, while I’m planning trips
expanding the biz, they demanding the kid and I tan this b*tch, can’t handle this (hold up)
and you know that I’m so hot, like you forgot you left your stove on
I’m stylish, keep it moving on autopilot like robot
the fame high, I ain’t change sides, I’m the same guy
in case you don’t know me, my name is J.Reyez
