Together by Baiyu

Together by Baiyu

You may remember Baiyu from MTVu’s “The Freshmen”, but she’s graduated and ready to share her soulful sounds with the world. Baiyu has released her new single Together. Her new EP, Fan Fair, will debut April 15, 2011 on her official website and will be a free download – this being a gift to her many fans that have supported her career and continue to show her love. In downloading the single or the EP, listeners will have the option to make a donation, with all profits going towards the Japanese consulate in aiding earthquake/tsunami relief efforts.

“Fan Fair is truly music from my heart, which makes me even more anxious to give it to my fans. Music has always brought me such joy and clarity and I hope that my music is that same gift to my fans as they are to me.”

Even with all her success, Baiyu seems most excited about her upcoming release because it’s something that at its core, has a message of triumph. “Together is an R&B feel good song,” she confides. “It’s definitely a song that’s meant to empower the listener and really convey that things are going to be okay. Essentially, my music is the byproduct of my personal story. Hopefully, my story, through song, will help others in need.”

And her story is only just beginning. With a college tour in the works, TV and movie projects lined up and superstar collaborations in the making, Baiyu has truly emerged.

“I think people will be surprised when they listen to my music because they don’t expect an Asian American artist to sound like me. I’m determined to be one of the first Asian artists to make it in this industry, and I definitely look forward to breaking some barriers.”

Lyrics to Together by Baiyu

Chorus:
You know you can come to me
Whenever you’re in need
I will stand by your side
Through and through

Whenever you’re feeling down
I’ll pick you up off the ground
Just know that you’re not alone
We can win this fight together

Verse I:
Through hard times
In simple ways
That’s how I show you
That I care for you (yeah)

I know we’ve been through
Ups and downs
But you wiped my tears away
Told me that we’ll find a way

Sub Chorus:
Now we’re sitting on top of the world
Just you and your favorite girl
And I
Know that nothing can defeat us

Just hold my hand
And I’ll hold yours
If we never let go (go)
Baby we got it

Chorus

Verse II:
There’s never been a pair like us
Anybody’s seen before
Jordan and Pippen ain’t got
Nothing on us we’re too hot

Nothing can come between the two
And everything you are
To me
Makes me believe
And now

Sub Chorus

Chorus

Bridge:
Noone ever has to be alone
There’s always someone to count on
Even though you might think you’re on your own
Just look around for somebody to say

Chorus

For Sethi, the microphone represents a catalyst of change, rhyming about social consciousness as well as cultural awarenesss while remaining true to the undefinable essence of hip hop’s versatility. Mandeep’s primary focus is to educate the youth about the circumstances in which we are living in and resonate ancient culture within them, revealing the gods in all of us. With what MTV Iggy calls, “an eclectically soulful style,” soul/r&b singer Dawen explores the gamut of American life. Fusing soul/r&b with funk and jazz, Dawen offers up a lyrical style that appeals to both the emotions and intellect. It’s rare when an artist arrives on the scene offering a refreshing new spin on a traditional genre of music. Steven Espaniola is that artist. Raised in Aliamanu, Hawai’i and now residing in the Bay Area, Steven is a multi-instrumentalist specializing in Ki Ho’alu (Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar), ‘Ukulele, Upright Bass, and Leo Ki’e Ki’e (Traditional Hawaiian falsetto). Bochan

Bochan is passionately sowing the seeds of a Neo-Cambodian musical breakout movement. Bochan bridges the gap between the East and the West – with her uniquely soulfully sweet and sultry Indie Pop sound with the help of pianist/producer, Arlen Hart. She draws from both her current Oakland urban environment and her traditional Cambodian upbringing to create this fresh intersection of worlds. Bochan grew up traveling around the US, singing for her father’s Cambodian rock bands. That journey is alive today in the music, which has moved from rock roots to its current inception. Stepping out from the traditional style, Bochan looks to enter a new musical age.

Legends of the Fist Trailer

Legends of the Fist Trailer

Legendary Kung Fu hero Chen Zhen is an iconic cultural mainstay in China and Hong Kong, having spawned both record-breaking feature films and a TV series. Over the years, martial arts legends such as Bruce Lee (FIST OF FURY) and Jet Li (FIST OF LEGEND) have played the popular hero. In LEGEND OF THE FIST: THE RETURN OF CHEN ZHEN, Donnie Yen continues this rich historical legacy, but with a brand new take on the urban legend. Here’s a synopsis:

In 1920s China, the nation is divided by infighting. Japan has become the most powerful force in Asia, taking over Northern Shanghai. With the city torn in half by international conflict, the popular nightclub “Casablanca” has become a hotbed of spies, mobsters, English officials and the Japanese military- all looking to gain control of the country, with little regard for what happens to its citizens.

Into this den of intrigue enters Chen Zhen (Donnie Yen), who has returned to China after fighting alongside the Allied forces in Europe, bringing some dark secrets from his past along with him. During the day, he’s known as “Ku”, and appears to be just another wealthy playboy. But at night, he takes to the street as a masked warrior, determined to subvert the Japanese invasion while becoming entangled with the sultry Kiki (Played by Shu Qi), who has a dangerous secret of her own. When his past catches up to him, Zhen is faced with near impossible odds- but his skills are formidable, and he’s up to the challenge.

Combining the best of today’s martial arts and superhero action with the classic spy thrillers of the past (and a healthy dollop of film noir on top), LEGEND OF THE FIST is the rare action film that truly gives the audience something they’ve never seen before. The movie is being presented in its full, original Hong Kong version. Not a frame has been cut from the film, and the film has not been dubbed. North American audiences will see the film as international audiences did, and only a few months after the Hong Kong theatrical release at that.

The film is slated to hit theaters starting April 22, 2011. Get tickets to see Legends of the Fist at Fandango .

Over the past year, we’ve seen several Donnie Yen films come over to the US including Ip Man and Ip Man 2.
