GO! OHANA : July 2011

If you’re in the San Francisco Bay Area, join GO! OHANA this Friday as they present their latest event. Coming with the summer heat, GO! OHANA proudly presents some of the hottest artists. On July 8, 2011, bands such as The Savages and Golda & The Guns alongside artists like Bochan Huy, will create harmony in their music. Come and join them in the sun and fun at the historic La Pena Cultural Center in Berkeley. They’re on a mission to create a new Pan Asian Arts Movement by supporting artists and connecting them with the community.

FEATURING:

The Savages

Vallejo grown rock & roll

Golda & The Guns
The beautiful, savage sound of full grown adolescence, GOLDA SUPERNOVA arrive in splendid new-millennium rock fashion – 3rd World born, 1st World bred, with new wave appetites, fed on old school hair rock, perverted by punk, a lil’ bit of funk, and completely addicted to majestic chaos. LAVA, their first LP, is the product of struggle, stubborn individuality and torturous dedication. Tracks like “FALL,” “DIAMOND,” and “FALSE,” are all arsenic and ear candy, full of fast-paced new wave bass, classic rock riffs and the drama of a good novel.

The Launch of Bochan Huy’s Music Video, “Chnam Oun 16″
Bochan is passionately sowing the seeds of a new style of diva. Born in Cambodia and raised in Oakland, her exposure to various genres and cultures has led her to bridge tradition and innovation. Her collaboration with pianist and producer Arlen Hart has created music that is powerful, soulful and moving (in every sense of the word, just ask the DJ’s who are spinning her tracks around the world). Bochan grew up traveling around the US, singing for her father’s Cambodian rock bands. That journey is alive today in the music, which has moved from rock roots to its current inception. Stepping out from the traditional style, Bochan looks to enter a new musical age.
