2008 Beijing Olympics Closing Ceremony ratings

NBC Universal’s Beijing Olympic coverage averaged 27.7 million viewers and scored a 17-day rating of 16.2/28 to post significant gains over the 2004 Athens Games. Last night’s Closing Ceremony had the best rating for any Summer Olympics Closing Ceremony outside the U.S. since the 1976 Montreal Games.

Sunday’s Closing Ceremony garnered 27.2 million average viewers, a 39 percent gain from the Closing Ceremony night in Athens (19.6 million). The night earned a 15.2 rating/24 share, a 28 percent increase from Athens (11.9/20). In both categories, the Closing Ceremony from Beijing was the best delivery for a Summer Olympics Closing Ceremony outside the U.S. since Montreal in 1976.

2008 DC APA Film Trailer Contest Finalists

Back in July, we told you about the 2008 DC APA Film Trailer Contest. The special jury of Asian American film makers and industry folk have reviewed all submissions and have chosen three finalists. Members of the jury include veteran filmmaker Grace Lee (THE GRACE LEE PROJECT, AMERICAN ZOMBIE), prolific producer Karin Chien (THE MOTEL, ROBOT STORIES), and up-and-coming film maker Tze Chun (WINDOWBREAKER, writer: CASHMERE MAFIA). Now it’s your turn to vote on the finalists and decide who wins the prizes. (We like #3 below.)

The 9th Annual DC Asian Pacific American (APA) Film Festival runs September 25 – October 4 at locations throughout the Washington, D.C., area, including the Landmark’s E Street Cinema and the United States Navy Memorial Theater.

Ryan and Sean’s Not So Excellent Adventure

The story of two young web celebrities who find themselves brought to Hollywood to audition and screen test for starring roles in the next big “buddy” film. Sought out by a producer about to be kicked off the studio lot, Ryan and Sean are put through the grueling process of makeovers, massages, tanning beds, singing, dancing and action picture auditions. Ryan Higa and Sean Fujiyoshi bring a genuine and natural comedic performance to strange and sometimes surreal situations that are packed with hilarity. This teen comedy has something for everyone and their current fans of Youtube will be especially surprised at how their Stars shine on the big screen. Familiar Ryan and Sean characters are incorporated into the story, Helga Fawntanilla, The Stalking Mangina and the “big green ball” even has a few cameo appearances. Non-stop fun and that special brand of humor that is Ryan and Sean can be found in this feature length film.

Fast & Furious 4 Trailer

The first official trailer for Fast & Furious 4 debuted in theaters this past weekend. (Previously, we posted that Justin Lin directing The Fast and Furious 4 including an early trailer.) The film opens June 5, 2009 and reunites the original cast (Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Michelle Rodriguez and Jordana Brewster). Also coming back from The Fast & the Furious:Tokyo Drift are Taiwanese filmmaker Justin Lin and Korean American actor Sung Kang.

When a crime brings them back to L.A., fugitive ex-con Dom Toretto (Diesel) reignites his feud with agent Brian O’Conner (Walker). But as they are forced to confront a shared enemy, Dom and Brian must give in to an uncertain new trust if they hope to outmanuever him.
