Asian Americans/Canadians support Japanese victims of quake & tsunami

Asian Americans/Canadians support Japanese victims of quake & tsunami

Here’s a few videos from Asian Americans giving their support to Japanese victims of quake & tsunami. Along with President Obama, Rapper D-Pryde and singer/songwriter AJ Rafael show their support in their own ways. Great to see the youth using their fame to help.

You can show your support by texting the Red Cross. When you text the word REDCROSS to 90999 you donate $10 to support our disaster relief efforts to help those affected by the earthquake in Japan and tsunami throughout the Pacific. A onetime $10 donation will be added to your phone bill. Depending on your carrier agreement, message and data rates may apply. Your $10 donation will appear on your regular monthly phone bill.

If you bring a donation of at least $15 or more and your USB thumb drive to any of The Slants’ upcoming How the Wicked Tour dates, they will give their first two albums (Slanted Eyes, Slanted Hearts and Slants! Slants! Revolution) for free. 100% of the profits go to the Red Cross.

Goh Nakamura talks Surrogate Valentine

Goh Nakamura talks Surrogate Valentine

Singer turned actor Goh Nakamura sat down with channelAPA.com to give us his first interview for his film Surrogate Valentine. The project came together after meeting White on Rice director Dave Boyle. (Goh actually made a music video for White on Rice.) Within six months, the production got under way. It’s loosely based on Goh Nakamura’s song Surrogate Valentine. Learn more from Goh Nakamura about the film, the music, and more.

Look for Surrogate Valentine to open at SXSW, followed by the 2011 San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival (SFIAAFF), and hitting a film festival near you.

Here’s an interesting work of art by designer Aisha Koleen. She created a video comprised of about 600 shots unveiling her artwork in a moleskine folding piece. It’s an incredibly elaborate drawing/book with new visuals revealed with each fold and unfold. (Reminds us of Origami in the pursuit of perfection.)

(thanks to Makiii K. for the tip.)
